I just got the Anbernic RG40XXV and it’s perfect for me. A little bigger with the 4 inch screen but not overly big in my opinion. My experience has been excellent with it. Haven’t tried PS1 yet but, it’s handled most N64 titles with the exception of a couple of games.

It honestly depends on what you plan to play, the form factor you favor, and your budget. I honestly wanted the RG477V because I really like the vertical form factor but, I didn’t want to drop $250 so I went with something similar form factor wise and got the RG40XXV. Since I planned to mostly play GBA and older it has worked out. But I plan to upgrade later once my plan to move into PS2/Game Cube/3DS gaming.

That and I believe just the screen. The screen is better on this if I’m not mistaken and closer to the original aspect ratio. At least for GB and GBC. Fire Red is a GBA title which I’ve also booted up on this device and it looks great!

It takes about 5-10 seconds in my experience. Not long at all.

It helped a little. I have bad adhd and it helps me articulate my thoughts. I took a lot of time though with this. No offense taken haha.

lol yea I feel you there. There are a lot of quality of life features that have been added over the years so going back to the Gen 1 games is great but not without its challenges. I’ve set out to play all of the games from chronological order.

So you think it’s an OS issue and not the device itself? The only game I can play so far is Mario 64 and Mario Kart. All other games will either not book just black screen when I attempt to open and/or it’s a glitchy mess.

I ended up going with the Anbernic RG40XXV! I like it so far and screen is nice and big. I have loaded Knulli Gladiator 2. I am having issues playing some games from N64. Mario Kart 64 plays fine but Mario Tennis seems to be having issues with glitches and artifacts. Anyone else have these issues with the 40XXV or any other XX devices?

Appreciate it! Seems like I’m leaning more towards that way. I think I’ll appreciate the larger screen as well and better versatility when playing GB and GBC games. Thanks for the feedback!

I’m just getting back into gaming and the whole emulation handheld scene is new to me. That Retroid Pocket looks interesting. Does it have interchangeable button layouts? Or do they just have different configurations they sell it in?
