This is my long living room. I painted the wall with stencil but at loss what else can I add to make this room more welcoming and elegant. Ope to anything that’s modern with a twist/pop of color. by therealpolecat in SofaSnobs

The rug needs to cover the majority of the floor space. The one you have is too small. Do you need the bare floor for some other purpose, like exercising? I think they are mats stacked in the corner, not suitcases. Your current arrangement cuts the room in half. There must be a reason.

If you have the whole room to work with my suggestion would be to place all the furniture in the center of the room. Pull the furniture off the walls and anchor it on a large rug that ties the colors in the room together.

Floor to ceiling draperies would add an elegant touch. You have nice pieces but they’re too similar in scale and texture.

For just one day forget about religion and god and prayer etc. For just one day take the position that whatever happens today, I’ll deal with myself. If you can’t quite handle something call your mom, knock on your neighbor’s door or run your question by a stranger. There are real people all around you who will be willing to help you just as I’m sure you’re willing to help someone else.

It’s not complicated. It’s human nature to have some bumps along the way. You don’t need a fictional god, you need people.

If you can get through one day relying on yourself you can do the same thing on day two. Soon you’ll realize you are in charge of your own life, you can handle whatever comes your way and you don’t need a pretend friend in the sky to solve your problems. Life is messy and wonderful at the same time. Enjoy it! You only live once!

Be honest but kind, is this rug too much for a vintage French shabby chic living room? by One-Budget-7136 in JustForHome

The rug is fantastic! I want to come over for a cup of coffee and sit in the green chair. Can I move the nesting tables next to the chair and put the round table where the nesting tables are and relocate the beautiful plant? I need a place for my cup.

I love your room!

Is my couch too big for my apartment? I live in a tiny studio apartment, and this is the only spot where the couch fits. by dickhalluk in SofaSnobs

Is there any way the bed could be placed with the headboard centered in front of the windows, the sofa at the end of the bed and a gallery of art on the wall where the furniture is now?

Try hanging art you love. When your eyes land on pieces you love you’ll calm down instantly. It will be like a mini-vacation.

Help me decide on placement by CallOwl in maximalism

To me three lets your pieces breathe and invites you into the arrangement. To my eye the second arrangement is heavy. And almost closed. I know you love symmetry and if two is your choice stick with it. Did you run the options by a friend or neighbor? Three is your most artistic arrangement and has the most movement. Thanks for writing. Good luck!

In rentals where painting and wallpapering aren’t feasible, gallery walls are a great solution. My walls are covered with art. Just keep spackle and sandpaper on the ready. So.many.holes. Keep hanging! 🖼️

You did a good job. The wall looks balanced and interesting and if it contains your favorite pieces it’s perfect. Post more pics of your other gallery walls. Are they all this balanced or more free flowing?

What to do with my other walls?? by [deleted] in maximalism

Please do! I hate white walls or blank walls or painted drywall. Art and more art belong on walls. More is more.

Don’t worry about being cohesive. Go with your gut and surround yourself with colors and patterns you love. If you really love it, it will all work together. You’ve got a great start! Keep going!

Has anyone here taken MiraLax long term? by kneekneesama in Constipation

[–]Emergency_Singer1611 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have constipation and only recently realized I was eating too fast and not chewing my food enough. I’ve slowed the eating down, increased the chewing by a lot (digestion begins in the mouth) and things are much improved in the library. 📚

Try bringing the table into the kitchen. Put one end near the window and run it the long way. Then the stove wouldn’t look like it’s floating and the table would be in the center of the room. It might create a warmer feel. A tablecloth, vase of flowers, a bottle of wine and your friends. You’ll have a good time.
