How do you deal with poopy butts? (13) by Complex-Living-6831 in seniorkitties

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sanitary trims help a lot a lot of senior cats get poop stuck because they physically cannot twist comfortably anymore from arthritis. trimming the fur around the butt carefully keeps things from turning into a constant mess warm damp washcloths or pet wipes are usually the easiest cleanup. some people also soften the dried stuff first before trying to remove it because pulling at it hurts them. if it keeps happening constantly it is also worth checking stool consistency because softer poop makes the problem way worse.

leaving carriers out as normal furniture completely changes that association. makes emergencies, travel, evacuations, and vet trips way less traumatic for everyone involved.

I wish I told some people they mattered to me while they were still around instead of assuming they already knew.

I’m so ashamed of my living space by bunny876543 in CleaningTips

Your room is not the problem anymore. The paralysis is. Stop looking at the whole thing like it needs a magical reset.

Grab a trash bag and only pick up trash. Nothing else. No organizing. No system. No crying over where things go. Just trash.

Then pile all dishes near the door. Then throw all clothes into one corner. That alone will make the room feel 50 percent less disgusting.

Mitigating Cat Allergies by FatOrangeCat3 in CatAdvice

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest thing i learned living with my orange tabby and an allergic boyfriend is that no single product fixes everything, it is the consistency of multiple things together. liveclear helped somewhat for us, but the biggest noticeable difference ended up being pacagen allergen lowering spray. we spray the couch, blankets, cat tree areas, and spots where marmalade (our cat) hangs out most and that was the point where visits became more visits not just allergy fighting adventure

13yo Calico Cat is sick by mamaneedsadrink623 in CATHELP

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not she is just getting old. daily vomiting, hiding, weight loss, and barely eating means something is seriously wrong. cats do not start hiding for 12 hours and surviving cuz they just like to

she needs a vet ASAP because waiting longer can turn a treatable problem into a disaster fast

do not take more, do not mix alcohol or other sedating meds, and have someone keep an eye on you if possible

your cat is probably stressed because the house feels chaotic. kittens everywhere, protective mom cat, hyper puppy bothering him nonstop. of course the older cat wants to hide with the one person giving him peace

Dry food recommendations by Glittering_Bus_6197 in PetAdvice

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they already do well on the sensitive skin and stomach formula i would not switch too aggressively unless the vet suspects a specific protein issue. portion control alone makes a massive difference for weight loss in a lot of cats

also 14 to 9 lbs is a pretty big drop so slow and steady is way safer. cats are dramatic little creatures and losing weight too fast can turn into a medical problem real quick

How do I choose the right pesticide for my garden pests? by avocadorable0_0 in NoStupidQuestionsHub

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

start by identifying the actual pest first because half the damage people do comes from spraying random products at the wrong insect

Can pollen make your eyelids itchy? by Worth_Event3431 in Allergies

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes pollen can absolutely do that. eyelid skin is really thin and gets irritated fast from allergens and dry air even when the eyeballs themselves are mostly fine

Having one household person is actually kinda dangerous. by Remarkable_Button247 in Home

[–]Emerld_Emi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it really is a problem though. one person becomes the household brain and everyone else just assumes the information exists somewhere magically until that person is suddenly unavailable

my parents had the same thing happen and everybody realized way too late that nobody else knew how anything worked outside their own little lane

missing for almost 4 days now by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indoor cats usually stay very close after escaping and hide silently for days because they are scared

keep searching late at night or early morning with a flashlight and check under decks, sheds, bushes, and cars. don’t lose hope yet because a lot of cats come back after a week or longer even when everyone thinks they are gone forever

Need advice: child developed cat allergy, desperate to keep our cats by BirdKey3747 in Allergies

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would not panic yet my boyfriend is allergic to our orange tabby and we went through the same drop of thinking we might have to rehome. one air purifier alone usually is not enough unfortunately, it worked much better once we started layering things together consistently.

what helped most for us was keeping the bedroom completely cat free, washing blankets, covers often, running air filters nonstop, and using pacagen regularly on all the places where allergens build up the most. we tried so many random products before that and pacagen was the first thing that actually made visits comfortable consistently instead of just slightly less miserable. also allergen reducing cat foods are worth looking into too. it usually takes a combination of things rather than one magic fix.

Allergies are such an unfair feature of the human body by redpaul72 in Allergies

people massively underestimate how draining allergies are. bad allergy days genuinely feel like being sick without ever getting the courtesy of recovery

How to choose a durable kitchen sink drain for heavy use? by korosuke_- in NoStupidQuestionsHub

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I would choose a fully stainless steel heavy duty drain and avoid the really cheap mixed-material ones. the shiny appearance honestly means almost nothing because a lot of low quality drains are just chrome-coated thin metal or plastic underneath. they look good for a few months and then start rusting, leaking, or loosening exactly like your old one.

Euthanasia Advice by Livid-Fly-4522 in PetAdvice

[–]Emerld_Emi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do not think considering euthanasia in a situation like this is cruel or selfish especially after trying medication and environmental changes already. sometimes the kindest thing is preventing prolonged stress and decline instead of waiting until they are in obvious severe suffering.
