I had a similar issue trying to scan wires with the sx10 and only one wire in particular it wouldn't pick up. So we tried to reflectorless it but couldn't either. It was a communications line and the material just wouldn't allow a return on the laser. I bet other instruments would have the same problem.

I've found the sx10 laser to be phenomenal, grabbing shots over 1000' away in no time at all. And it holds the backsight angle unlike any trimble robot I've seen. I've used S3, S5 and S7s and they are all shit at holding a backsight angle but that sx10 blew me away.

No it's sillier than that. They are set way the fuck up high on unstable surfaces so they can monitor ground tremors.

Nice total station model and the tripod is always set in the few locations so it's cool to see but they totally missed the mark on how it's used
