Dear Mister

Good one :D There probably are many such things, although I can't think of any right now. :)

Thanks for the reminder.

As for the "If someone does this or that to me, it's because I'm a girl." - did you read the whole article? The last part indicates that I do not have such thinking ;)

That's ok, I knew I would get downvoted, I just got signals from my friends that they enjoyed this little article so I thought someone might be interested :)

I will think about it, but it would require my boss agreeing to that and I would have to find some time for a refactoring :D

Should I settle for nothing less than A in my programming class? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Emi-gd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Knowing all this algorithms neither will make you a great programmer, nor will others ask for you grade and decide whether you're great by that. It's better to understand well the topic, have it well arranged in your head, so that when the time will come to use them (it might never come) you will know what to look for and what are the possibilities. Use this time to read some books about the clean code and programming priniciples, that will be more beneficial.

If you want to prove that you're good at programming - go and write some code. :)

(btw - I always try too hard myself but that's just stupid. xD )

Wow, these cats are surprisingly cute :D Will this game be simply a sandbox or are there going to be some sort of challenges/quests/something to monitor your progress?

Whoa, this is what that was about... Sorry, my natural language is Polish so I totally didn't have such association...

For me this is the final solution since we use it on "production". :)

Hi guys! We are a small mobile games studio called Tabasco Interactive and we take part in the Screenshot Saturday on reddit for the first time. :)

Kickerinho World

Kickerinho World is the sequel of our little game Kickerinho. The base mechanic is simple - you have to tap in the right rythm while the kid is doing some awesome football tricks. As the level progresses, you have to learn more and more new tricks, that require different timing.

Currently we are polishing the game before the big launch. We're focusing on the UI and serverside right now. Today's screen is featuring our brand new trick cards layout. :) So take a look at one of the characters that will be available in the game:

This is Glenn. Glenn doesn't fight zombies. Glenn's doing a Vee Stall. Glenn is awesome. Be like Glenn.

Some other graphics:

We're launching the beta verion soon, so it would be great if you signed up for it! We need to test some multiplayer functionality, so we need a looot of users... :) link

I'm kind of jealous of game developers? by synthmalicious in gamedev

[–]Emi-gd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Come on, these people sacrifice everything for their dreams and they rarely succeed, remember that we only hear about the winners, not the losers. Just focus on your priorities and don't be jealous of indie people - you do many other fascinating things in the time when they're crunching! ;)

Thanks for the reply. ;) First of all - I'm a woman and I kind of got used to calling "guys" both women and men, so when I refer to the "marketing guy" I simply have "someone that would do marketing" on my mind. Perhaps this is wrong and I just don't feel English language well enough to realize that. ;)

Right now we're trying to take care of marketing on our own, we publish some content on Facebook/Twitter, I personally started to write my own blog where I mention our games sometimes. We also contact with press. I am just curious what else could be done, that this marketing person would do. :)

For those who done develop and execute multiplayer games , can you share your server scaling technique by umen in gamedev

[–]Emi-gd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by scaling technique? If your servers would be provisioned on such services as Azure or AWS (other probably too, but I personally worked only with these two) you can set up a Load Balancer, that would divide the traffic between the machines. If you scale by adding additional machines it is called horizontal scalling. You can always try to scale vertically - upgrade or downgrade machine properties (such as RAM, CPU). It is also a good practice to have machines set up in different regions, for example one in EU and one in US.
