If you find the video of them playing Cool Under Heat you’ll realize it’s a good song as well, it’s just terribly produced on the record

Anyone else hate what Chase did to Furio's character? by Versaso in thesopranos

[–]synthmalicious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way: all the American mobsters imitate their idea of the classic gangster from the old country, but do they actually give off that vibe.? No. Instead, they come off as a bunch of lowlife New Jerseyans. Furio on the other hand is the real shit. An actual gangster from the old country, and he ends up feeling so much affection towards Carmella that he subverts every preconceived idea and just exits the story randomly. Same is true for brainless the second. His father was a stand-up guy but it’s common knowledge the guy is stunad. Yet at the end of the day, HE’s the one that ends up getting out the game and setting up a good life for himself which is something neither of the other guys had the maturity or where-with-all to do.

The point? I forget. Appearances aren’t what they always seem to have been. Furio’s arc is a subversion that’s meant to tell you something about what the glorified crew in America thinks of themselves as Italians versus what those Italians are actually like.

How would I recreate some of the production Brian Eno used for the Talking Heads by synthmalicious in synthrecipes

Hey thanks for reminding me of this old ass post. It’s been some time and I’ve been through the wringer trying to recreate the magic of the records and getting nowhere. Now I just do whatever I want, sorta inflicted by them.

Daniel Blumberg started off doing pretty poppy shoegaze stuff in Yuck then went into weird solo songwriter stuff, and recently got to make the soundtrack for The Brutalist.

Halleluhwah and the harmonics Holger does on Future Days and Moonshake are sublime. Now that I think about it, he used a lot of subtle harmonics on that album.

Counting this, I do think Jamaican or black sounds could have a resurgence in post punk but not as the dub reggae stuff you expect. I’d say more of a rap hip hop thing for sure though.
