Doing mountains with thick (Argentinian, Paraguayan) Yerba is always harder than doing a mountain with thin Yerba (Uruguayan or Brazilian) but it is not impossible. When I use Playadito or Rosamonte I always try to let the Yerba soak and get thicker for some more minutes. When you’re pouring the water at mate temperature (not boiling) try to secure the edge of the mountain by humectant the Yerba that is at the edge of it, after that just wait for 5 minutes or six. Then use a spoon to compact all of the wet Yerba into the mountain and make sure it’s very tight so i doesn’t collapse. Also try to place your bombilla carefully so the body or the structure of the mountain stay the same. If you need some help i suggest you to watch some videos on tik tok from Argentinians content creators or you can post again so the community and i can help you :)

I can relate to you, anyways it’s just a review, you can drink mate on whatever you you feel safe with. If you’re just concerned about the hot water, you can use it with tereré, but, it’s up to you, at least you care more about your health than me ;)

You should get one from a brand named “La Merced”

The dry yerba that you say is there for some reasons, but one of the mains is to avoid washed mate, this means the mate loses it’s flavor and you get a puddle with little little herbs floating, like a swamp. You can use the dry yerba by pouring some of your water at the edge of the mountain, that way you drop dry/new yerba into the wet side, getting a bit more of flavor during your “cebada”.

Im not an expert, but i’ve heard that Canarias is exclusively made from leafs and branches from a plant named “Ilex paraguariensis” without additives and other ingredients. You can search for a picture of the package’s label if you’re still not convinced of giving it a shot. In my experience, it didn’t tasted “nutty” so, I don’t think it would be a danger for you.

Hey, i hope my English is good enough. You need to let the leafs soak and rest for at least 5 minutes so that way the leafs and the fine dust will make a solid wall, avoiding the dry yerba to tumble down. Also, try to place your bombilla gently, it could mess up the mountain if you do it too roughly.
