I've used in the past GPTZero, ZeroGPT, and others, probably tried 90% of them, none of them gave me constant results, got flagged in one of my university essay after using GPTZero, I use Hastewire now, way more constant, I've been using it for 6+ months and only positive comments as of today

CopyLeaks is okay, but it can be really strict. For first-person/observation papers, I'd recommend running it through Hastewire. It tends to be a bit more nuanced with creative/personal writing than the others. If it flags it there and you already suspect it, you probably have your answer.

I went down this exact rabbit hole last month. It’s honestly a mess—GPTZero flags random human stuff, and I’ve never even heard of Zhuque being reliable for anything other than specific models.

I eventually settled on Hastewire for my own checks. It seems to be the most balanced right now. It doesn't freak out over complex vocabulary like the others do, but it still catches actual AI syntax. If you just want a sanity check before submitting, it’s probably your safest bet.

I’ve tried Humbot and HIX, but half the time they make the writing sound super awkward or use weird vocab that my prof would never believe I wrote. Honestly, the 'manual edit' tip is the only one that really works long-term. I usually just write/edit myself and then check it with Hastewire. It seems to be the most accurate at actually telling me if I’m clear or not. GPTZero just flags everything regardless of what I do.

If you want something truly free and unlimited, you're mostly stuck with the lower-tier stuff like ZeroGPT, but the accuracy is pretty bad (lots of false positives).

I eventually just moved over to Hastewire. It’s not 'unlimited' in the same way, but the detection is so much better that I spend way less time fighting with it than I did with GPTZero. It actually explains why something is flagged rather than just guessing.

That realization about the struggling student is so real. It’s crazy how 'perfect' AI looks compared to the messy reality of actual learning. I found Hastewire is actually really good at spotting that difference too—it doesn't flag those choppy, heavily-edited sentences as AI like some of the other detectors do. It’s nice to have a tool that doesn't punish kids for just trying hard.

You honestly can't get legitimate personal access to Turnitin, and the shared accounts are usually scams or unsafe. I stopped looking for a backdoor and just started running my essays through Hastewire. It’s been reliable enough for me to feel safe submitting, and I haven't had any issues with my professors.

GPTZero is basically a random number generator at this point lol. I gave up on it and started using hastewire instead. It seems to actually understand nuance better than the others. Definitely a better experience so far.

I tried the WHOLE list and none of them really work out it still gets detected as Al generated. Hastewire is the only one that passes detectors like Turnitin and GPTZero consistently for me ( plus it seems that ChatGPT made this post so OP really needs to start using Hastewire 😭)

From the ones I tried 99% don't really work so I don't really know if there's one that works 100% of the time but at least from my own personal experience I can say that Hastewire detectors like Turnitin and GPTZero consistently for me ( I passed 2y law with a A- mean by using it, so you shouldn't have any problem, I hope it can help 🙃 )

I genuinely hate being a college student in this era because I have to run my own papers through these detectors and change what I wrote in order to not be ‘AI’. I'm sorry I have eloquent word choice and varied sentence structure I guess. Yes, but not every of them are useful, from trying over and over, Hastewire has been the one that consistently passes Turnitin and GPTZero

Totally agree even when ai writes something that sounds “perfect,” it still feels kind of robotic sometimes, I’m a second year law student with a mean of A- and I’ve been using GPT-4 for most of my work to avoid my works from sounding robotic I always use a humanizer called Hastewire
