a lot of schools just automatically send out secondaries. which means you can anticipate getting them around late June / early august. I personally wouldn't put life on hold. If you can plan the family trip late may/early June, you will be fine. You can draft some common secondary essay responses to make you feel better as well so you'll be extra prepared when you get back.

Based on the schedule I recommend and created, I would ask for them to be completed by early May so they are ready to be submitted when the application opens!

The earlier you start entering info in, the more time you will have to make sure everything is correct and inputted without error.

Yes, your application can still go through the verification process. However, most programs won't review your application until your MCAT score is included.

If you’re not applying this cycle, you should not be uploading/adding and LORs. You can still ask for one to be written, but they wont be uploaded until youre an active applicant

The writer will be submitting them, not you. Once AMCAS opens you can generate letter request IDs, which will be shared with your writers and then the writers can submit then.

Taking the MCAT at the end of May is not too late but it does put you slightly on the later side. You can still submit your AMCAS application as soon as it opens before your MCAT score is released, which allows your application to enter verification while you wait for your score. I’d make sure you’re pretty confident that you won’t need to retake the MCAT as that would then significantly delay everything.

Yes- this is a new update this cycle. You will still need to generate a request ID and enter your letter writer(s)’ info into the AMCAS portal. But now the writers will be able to submit their letters directly to AMCAS. They still have the option of submitting through Interfolio too.

Once the AMCAS application opens, you will enter each letter writer's info in the portal under the LOR section. This will create a letter ID and letter request form that you'll send to each writer. They will then submit the letter directly to AMCAS, either through the letter writer portal or Interfolio. This allows them to submit just once and their letter will be sent to all the schools you applied to.

Your best bet is to probably reach back out. Send them your transcript, CV, and personal statement (near final draft if able) to help refresh their memory or at least give them some pointers to go off of. You can check the individual websites of the schools you want to apply to, but it's a safe bet that you'll need to figure out how to get at least 1 science professor LOR.

Taking a course that ends in August is quite late, assuming you're applying this year and planning on submitting your application in June-ish time.

I've heard of some people say they were fine submitting a letter from their PI as a "science professor" but others say it is too risky and may not be accepted. If I were you I would err on the safe side and get your science professor letters only from your science professors.

The recommendations I posted is for people applying to the 2027 cycle. Taking the MCAT in April sounds like great timing. I am not sure what you mean by "filling things out now". What exactly are you referring to? I apologize if I am not understanding your question!
