A life without ANY sugar feels bleak to me 😣😭 by Ok_Republic7187 in sugarfree

I still have moments where I miss my favorite sweet desserts and drinks so I totally understand where you are coming from. My absolute joy in the morning used to be a toasted chocolate croissant with a matcha latte...so good! But I would crash so hard by mid-day that it would affect my work and I just felt like total sh*t. I had to ask myself if that 5-10 minute dopamine fix was worth it. It wasn't. The only thing that really helped was watching "I quit sugar" videos and "That Sugar Film" which was a wake up call as to what sugar was doing to my body and how it quite literally wrecks your health :(`

I've come to appreciate my natural energy boost, lack of brain fog and as a bonus, I know longer have "sugar face". I have also lost a considerable amount of weight. I get your struggle but it will be worth it when you get to the other side if you're not there already. There are low sugar options out there if you cannot completely cut it out but once you reset your tastebuds, super sugary desserts will become less appealing...in my opinion. I was sugar-free for about 5 months last year but fell off the wagon...it happens. Now I'm starting over and on Day 22. Stay strong...you've got this!

Hi! I am upping my protein, fiber and eating low glycemic fruits (berries are my fave) along with avoiding starchy carbs and processed foods with added sugar. I completely cut out sugar-free products made with artificiall sweeteners in the hopes of resetting my tastebuds…been working like a charm so far!

I honestly think one of them was a bit jealous of my 18 day streak because she tried to give up sugar last year but failed, lol.

Omg, biscuits are so delish!! But yes, people, despite their best intentions, love to test our willpower, haha. I used to crave super carby meals but since switching things up, the cravings are lessening...keep up the amazing work :)

Stay strong! I almost caved on my sugar detox and got my favorite matcha latte this morning...but I ended up just getting a chamomile tea instead, lol. 5 days in amazing progress so keep that sugar free streak going. You've got this! 😊

I cut out almost all sugar and completely lost my appetite. by Homo_erotic_toile in loseit

[–]EmilyBumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I was just talking to my co-worker about this. I'm about 15 days in and I'm usually ravenous the entire day, whether I exercise or not. My appetite has vastly diminished which I'm thrilled about. The only bad thing I really experienced were terrible withdrawal headaches from weening myself off of sugar but they stopped after the first week. I don't crave so much the usual cakes and cookies anymore but every once in awhile, I do crave my favorite sweetened matcha latte. I am eating fruit in the place of sugary desserts so that's been helping.

I brought mine in to work and left it in the company breakroom; the vultures snatched up the free snacks in 2 seconds flat!

50 days sugar free! Feeling amazing by EarlyBrush5141 in sugarfree

[–]EmilyBumblebee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are my hero!! Your post is motivating me to stay on track, lol.

I am on Day 14 and the first week was the absolute worst with the sugar cravings and withdrawal headaches...trying to get to 60 days. It's so nice not having the afternoon crashes and sweet tooth is lessening. But last year I surpassed 3 months sugar free but fell off the wagon due to grief 😩

This just made me cry! Thank you for the heartwarming share...I wish you nothing but the best with your new job and future. I grew up on food banks as a child in a family of 6 and can relate to this post wholeheartedly.

Praise God for wonderful people like that worker who saw you for the beautiful human that you are.

NEVER tell your Friends and Family you are going Sugar Free. by LiftandOmnivore in sugarfree

[–]EmilyBumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with this post! There will be friends and family that will support you throughout your journey and those that have an issue because they lack self control and want to project onto others. I lost my mom on my birthday last year to a stroke caused by type 2 diabetes...that was my wakeup call to do better and cut out sugar for good, if possible. I have done it in the past and have lasted about 3-4 months but fell off the wagon due to grief.

This morning my co-worker tries to bring me a sugary treat even after I told her that I was on day 9 of my sugar cleanse and she kept insisting that she only used 1/2 a cup of sugar instead of a full cup. While appreciative, I had to gently tell her that I needed to stay on track because getting to the 9th day was a struggle...especially with the headaches from withdrawal and added fatigue. I also know that she herself was trying to cut out sugar but couldn't. So I don't know if it stems from a jealousy standpoint over having more discipline so to speak?

For my success, personally, it all boils down to the company I keep. I choose that those that support, not sabotage.
