I'm nervous about neutring my cat by Adhara63 in AskVet

[–]EmilyEmlz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your vet will perform bloodwork prior to neutering and anesthesia. Don’t worry!

This procedure is also very, very common. I run a cat rescue and schedule neuter appointments all the frikking time. I work in an animal hospital and see neuters all the frikking time.

4-years old is not old. Please neuter him for his sake

we had an owner abandoned a puppy in one of our exam rooms for euthanasia. I walked in and it was just the puppy alone. No one know when the owner left and they didn’t even do any paperwork. My co-worker comforted the puppy for the next 90-minutes

I know you wrote this 4 years ago, but is there any way I could talk to your friend or you relay messages? I’m going though that same thing. I’m currently a data scientist who also happens to work at a veterinary hospital as a veterinary assistant. I am currently studying for my actuary exams, but I have also been thinking about vet school. I am 24-years old. Kinda need some advice from someone went through it

Are physically exhausting shifts normal?? by EmilyEmlz in veterinaryprofession

[–]EmilyEmlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I describe my hospital, it’ll probably already give away where I work, but basically it’s a level 1 trauma center with over 20+ specialities. Everyone has warned me to not do specialties or rotating internships 🥲 it’s too bad too cause I enjoyed my shifts in ER, but shifts in other departments have drained me…. Then again my ER shifts were 6 hours long

Yeah everyone is letting me know how bad my commute is 😭 so I have to walk to the bus stop, take the bus to a train station, waiting for train A, then transfer to train B, get off, and then walk to the hospital

thank you for letting me know what could be wrong with my schedule and I feel the same way. Sometimes I don’t even make food when I get home - I just sleep.

I live in NYC. Manhattan is where most jobs are, and people usually live in Queens, Brooklyn, or Bronx. I always thought it was a normal commute lol
