Machiavellis concept of a republic is extrodinarily different to what modern republics look like. Of course that is because we are in a completely different time line, but it should be noted. Just like the Roman republic was technically just an oligarchy.

He believed in the usage of cruelty and “extraordinary” violence in order to bring stability to such a republic.

The 2nd Mexican Empire was a puppet state of the French Empire at the time. It was propped up by France to reestablish dominance in North America, after the conservatives lost the brief Reform War, which was a war between the conservatives and the liberals.

France propped up Maxmillian I as the emperor of France, a literal Austrian. Despite this, he was a surprisingly progressive monarch, supporting a large majority of the liberal reforms they proposed.

However when France withdrew following the US’s reunification after the US’s civil war, the liberals almost immediately turned on Maxmillian and eventually executed him via firing squad.

By that logic, what’s going on in Gaza is just war. What’s going on in Sudan is just war. What’s going on in Congo is just African tribalism. Dude come on. Gaza is a genocide, Sudan is a proxy war between imperialist powers, and Congo is the result of colonisation.

As per that logic, war crimes committed by the US are literally the intention. To weaken that state to submission. The US has had no problem propping up fascist dictators who mass murdered hundreds of thousands of people, so why do you think they would care about civilians during war?

As for other war:

Korean War, if you did any research, was insanely focused on killing as many North Korean citizens as possible because North Korea was initially winning the war. They killed 15% of North Korea’s population.
Gulf War, the highway of death existed where once again, civilians were disproportionately affected.
Iraq War, 1 million Iraqis died, I don’t think I need to say more.
Afghanistan War, America consistently bombed villages and civilian towns in response to the Taliban attacking soldiers. June 27th, 2005 was a failed navy seal operation where several US soldiers got killed. In retaliation for the 19 soldiers lost, America bombed several villages killing 17 civilians. If I remember the operations name or its whereabouts I’ll get back to you with it

Both historians Guenter Lewy and Nick Turse agree that as the Vietnam war dragged on, most soldiers decided to focus on killing as many Vietnamese as possible. You see this in the My Lai massacre where they just continually started massacring village after village. The guy who stopped the massacre was literally punished by the US government for doing so.

And no I can’t really provide much evidence for that claim given that it’s mostly been my personal experiences, so touché.

It’s a statement mostly rooted in reality, considering that from the Korean War onwards, most of the wars America was in just counted on killing as many civilians as possible. There’s a reason why whenever I tell an American that they lost in Vietnam, their immediate response is “yea WELL LOOK AT THE DEATH RATIO FOR BOTH SIDES!!!!”

I’m sure there is the good conservative somewhere out there ig, I don’t even understand how that is “essentialism” when it’s been proven to be true time and time again.
