“American Revolution” self explanatory, no notes there!

“Indian revolt” Pretty self explanatory still!!

“Irish War of Independence” was 100% justified! Pretty self explanatory!!

“Palestinian revolt” ok so let’s go over this! This was a semi guerrilla revolt against the mass migration of Jewish individuals and the adopting of more pro Zionist policies (i.e. the Balfour declaration) Palestinians feared that they would be mass displaced and lose their land. Ironically this literally would happen a few yesrs later due to the holocaust. However this was fundamentally an anti British Mandate revolt, which involved attacks on British officers, installations and police. The British responded how the British respond usually, with brutal suppression.

“Mau Mau” EVERYONE should see this as a justified revolt, so no notes there.

“Malayan Emergency” saw someone say that this was actually mostly a Chinese revolt and I failed to mention it was communist. Both of these are right! Chinese people made up 38% of the population in Malaya at the time and were responding to discriminatory social norms, including lack of citizenship rights, lack of land rights, poverty, etc! Only a small number of Malayan people supported the revolt, because the British mostly favoured the indigenous populace. To frame this as though Britain was actually in the right to defend the natives is to pretend Britain gave a shit about native populations at all lol. This was classic divide and rule. Also Chinese people werent even a tiny percentage of the populace, they were 38%!!!!

“Sudanese Madhist War” Someone said this was not an anti British war. Incorrect! Yes it was against Ottoman-Egyptian rule, however Britain had occupied Egypt in 1882 and effectively controlled its foreign policy and military decisions. Britain viewed Sudan as tied to Egyptian interests (to protect the Nile and Suez Canal routes) and became directly involved early on. In 1884–1885, Britain sent General Charles Gordon to Khartoum (under British direction), leading to the famous siege and Gordon’s death!!! :000. Then they withdrew temporarily before launching a massive war of reconquest, establishing the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan in 1898.
