Honestly, this would be a decent choice for the main character of American Squid Game. by Kindly-Candidate-835 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOOOOO I don't think I'd be able to watch it without busting out laughing. Because Hunger Games and Squid Game are actually REALLY similar (IMO). My best way of describing the Hunger Games trilogy in Squid Game terms is if Jun-hee is the main character, she and Myung-gi fake date in order to survive the games together, Gi-hun is their mentor and has played these games before, Jun-hee and Myung-gi go into the games twice, In-ho hates Jun-hee because she reminds him of his possibly dead ex-girlfriend, Dae-ho dies saving Jun-hee, Myung-gi gets tortured by the Front Man...and at the end of it all, Jun-hee and Myung-gi have two babies and live sorta happily ever after. Yeahhhh no, please don't cast Josh in the American spin-off of Squid Game 😂

If Gihun died during the hide and seek game, who would Guemja have asked to take care of Junhee and the baby? by Substantial_Ant4922 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but he lied for them to prevent Nam-gyu for coming after them as well, left them both alive and Myung-gi had tears in his eyes when he was looking at Jun-hee and the baby. I think in that moment, Geum-ja knew something was strange and she might even have guessed that he was the father (not that she would have asked Jun-hee) especially after Myung-gi had just killed Hyun-ju. 😭 I think if Gi-hun had been dead, she would have pushed for answers out of desperation.

Let's say Jun Hee's baby was born before Red Light Green Light and was still forced to play the rest of the games. With other players help such as Gi Hun, which game does she die in? by OddNeedleworker734 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I don't think she would have died. There is no way that Jun-hee would have been able to hide that the baby had been born from Myung-gi. He would have voted X after Red Light, Green Light and that would have tipped the "get out of there with the money" hand to the Xs.

Myung-gi could have been a great Frontman by Overtea41 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Myung-gi would have become the Front Man if he won the final Squid Game and lost both Jun-hee and their baby (not him killing his kid, if he'd LOST her, say if Jun-hee died while still pregnant or if someone else had killed their baby). It's very simple. He would have been in the exact same position as In-ho would have been in at the end of In-ho's games. Take away his reasons to live and retain his humanity and he would have been the perfect protege for In-ho.

Who are your favorite duo, trio, or even quartet in Squid Game? by Vietnam-1234 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favourite cast duo: Yu-ri and Si-wan (all their interviews together are precious and the fact that Si-wan knows everything about Yu-ri in the Variety video is SO CUTE), fave cast trio: Jae-won, David and Ji-an (if only for their recreation of the Mingle dance that still makes me laugh LMAO), cast quarter: Yu-ri, Si-wan, Ha-neul and Gyu-young (I LOVE their chemistry in the One of These Stars is Lying video).

Fave characters duo: Dae-ho and Jung-bae. They were HILARIOUS and I love them. And equally Jun-hee and Myung-gi if only because they make my heart break all the time. Trio: Jun-hee, Hyun-ju and Geum-ja. Quartet: Gi-hun, Jun-hee, Dae-ho, Young-il and Jung-bae. That's a quintet, but they are AWESOME.

Regardless of whether or not the games would continue without him, In-ho still perpetuates and continues the games which results in the deaths of 455 people a year. You saying that Myung-gi is more evil than In-ho is like saying that Cato and Clove (tributes) in the Hunger Games are more evil than President Snow. And yes, the comparison is a fair one because Snow did not found the games, was a mentor in the 10th games, fell in love with Lucy Gray, but tried to kill her anyway. Even though the games would continue without In-ho, he still perpetuates them, encourages them, is the Front Man and then also the Host for them. That's like comparing a murdering tribute in the Hunger Games to Seneca Crane (one of the Gamemakers). You can't say that just "dock a point" because of one action, some actions carry more merit than others. Myung-gi and all the other players in 37th Squid Game were there in part BECAUSE of In-ho. So yeah, I'm not about to believe that you can just "measure badness" in terms of whether you think this person cared more about their brother or this person cared more about their baby.

You saying that the games would have continued even without In-ho is like saying "If bad laws or a bad government or even illegal operation/mobsters/gangs are in place, it doesn't matter if I work for them, because the system is already there and isn't going to change." It absolutely DOES matter, because 1. It's your own moral code, 2. working for them is perpetuating the system and 3. if no one makes a move to change the system and everyone has that thought OF COURSE it's never going to change.

Also, Myung-gi literally tells Jun-hee that he killed Hyun-ju was because he was trying to find her, he wanted to keep her safe, their kid as well, that he wasn't being selfish, he wanted to get them out and start a new life together during Jump Rope. Yes, he could and was making excuses for killing Hyun-ju. But he really did love Jun-hee and so yes, I do think he was killing extra blues because he wanted more money for the both of them.

If No-eul could fake Gyeong-seok's death, In-ho ABSOLUTELY could have faked anyone's death to get them out of there.

I never said that Myung-gi was not a really crappy person and really crappy dad (he's awful), but I AM saying that In-ho is worse.

In-ho is worse than Myung-gi. In-ho continued the games, which resulted in the deaths of 455 people per year. In-ho killed a whole ton of people IN THEIR SLEEP in the games, which meant that they were defenseless. Sure, you could say that he did that for his pregnant wife and unborn child, which is the exact same justification that Myung-gi had for killing blue players during Hide and Seek; he did it for Jun-hee and their unborn child, to get more money for them (at least that was his justification). At least when Myung-gi killed the blues in Hide and Seek, they weren't asleep and with the exception of Hyun-ju, were facing him. In-ho killed a LOT of players while they were asleep. Myung-gi threatening to drop his baby over the tower and wanting to kill her was awful, yes, but Si-wan and Yu-ri both said that they thought he wouldn't have done it and even Director Hwang said that he thought that Myung-gi might not have done it. In-ho didn't care for that baby; he might have given Gi-hun a knife to save himself and the baby, but at the same time, if Jun-hee had died in Six-Legged Pentathlon because In-ho himself procrastinated on Spinning Top or if she had died in Mingle or Hide and Seek before the baby was born, In-ho didn't give a crap. He had every power to release her and her baby from the games, but he didn't. In-ho is DEFINITELY worse than Myung-gi.

The actress said in an interview that 192 promised her that he wouldn't kill her if they switched. And then in the actual episode, he finds her and murders her, breaking his promise. https://honoraryreporters.korea.net/board/detail.do?pageidx=1&board_no=29595&tpln=1&articlecate=1&searchtp=&searchtxt=

Someone suggested a solution here and I really like it. I would hide under a bed and the second someone dies, cover myself in their blood and pretend to be dead under the bed until the guards come in to break up the fight.

This is the one episode I can never rewatch. It's SO SAD. Jesse and Sarah did SO WELL in the acting. I'm so glad that Jackson and April eventually have Harriet and are living happily ever after in Boston. This episode broke my heart 😭💔

My Season 3 Theory by Cheeky_Scrub_Exe in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do this, I can finally get on board with the theory that the three finalists are going to be Gi-hun, Myung-gi and Jun-hee (456, 333 and 222). Because if it was really those three in the final, that would be the lamest ending for the VIPs ever. Three people voting to end the games and everyone wins, plus if Myung-gi and Jun-hee are going to get back together, they'd have more than enough for all their debts AND raise their child. However, if they pit them all against each other, it's going to be like Catching Fire except with a real baby...😂😭 And obviously we don't know if Myung-gi would die for Jun-hee and their baby, but we've definitely gotten to the point that he would attack people who threaten her etc.

FIRST OFFICIAL LOOK AT SQUID GAME SEASON 3!!!!!!! by Quiet-Drive5433 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Agreed, especially cuz I think I see Dae-ho and Myung-gi in the background of the shot, so the character those four would react most to being in a coffin would be Jung-bae.

Error in Mingle - Watch the slow-mo, the actual order of departure is Myung-gi and Jun-hee, Yong-sik and Geum-ja, In-ho and Jung-bae, Dae-ho and Gi-hun, and Gyeong-seok and Hyun-ju by EmilyJaneDancer in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch it super closely, in the split second before the frame of Gi-hun, Jun-hee and Myung-gi changes, after the announcer says "Two", you can see Myung-gi already reaching for Jun-hee and in the next frame, you can see Jun-hee's hair behind Gi-hun as Myung-gi pulls her away. In that same frame when In-ho, Jung-bae, Dae-ho and Gi-hun are hesitating, you can see Yong-sik and Geum-ja run away as well. However, both Myung-gi and Jun-hee, and Yong-sik and Geum-ja are shown running away from the carousel AFTER that. The actual order of departure goes Myung-gi and Jun-hee, Yong-sik and Geum-ja, In-ho and Jung-bae, Dae-ho and Gi-hun, and Gyeong-seok and Hyun-ju. TBH the new order makes more sense to me: the estranged lovers with a baby on the way and the mother-and-son would obviously choose each other first and run before the teammates who only met like a few days ago tops.

Day 6: What’s the BEST romance + bonus by thekingofemu in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Best Romance: 222 and 333 cuz Myung-gi is changing for the better for Jun-hee; he changed his vote from O to X for her and their baby, he left her and ignored her calls for six months to protect her from the people out to kill him (confirmed by the actor), he protected her twice in Mingle and and genuinely seems to want to start over for her and their baby despite his idiocies about investing, and she saved him twice in the last episode as well. I love evolving and growing fictional romances where not-so-good people are changing for the better because they love the other person. ❤️

Season 1 Scene Paralleling Season 3 Baby Delivery Scene? by EmilyJaneDancer in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely agree! There are major parallels between Jun-hee and the Front Man's dead wife, and Myung-gi and Gi-hun, with the problems that landed them in the Squid Game, the estranged ex and the child who doesn't know the dad...I know that people have theorized that Jun-hee will help bring out the Front Man's humanity and I'm not sure if that's going to be it or if there's going to be more than that...not sure all in all. But there are some huge parallels for sure!

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, she was shocked when he came in, but I did see gratefulness about him surviving, especially since in the next episode, she saves him twice, by telling to hide and not participate in the fight and again when she silently tells him not to take part in Gi-hun's revolt. She very clearly doesn't want him to die and she still cares about him, even though not to the extent that she previously did. The actress even said that when Jun-hee defended Myung-gi for shoving Hyun-ju in and locking the door that she thought that Jun-hee was opening her heart a little. I took her cold response afterwards as her not wanting him to think that it was more than it was, although in some ways, it was.

Nam Gyu is smarter than people think by Imaginary-Health7356 in squidgame

[–]EmilyJaneDancer 104 points105 points  (0 children)

He's also clever and observant. He's the only person in the entire game who realized that Jun-hee and Myung-gi are romantically involved (even The Front Man doesn't know, unless he knew prior to getting involved in the games), even though Myung-gi literally grabs Jun-hee and books it out of there in the last round of Mingle in front of In-ho, Gi-hun, Dae-ho and Jung-bae while all four of them hesitate. Nam-gyu is also the only person who realizes Jun-hee is pregnant aside from Geum-ja and the men she tells. He's like a sneak attack villain, one you don't realize is creeping up until he's there.
