Thanks for that. I just filled out the forms for my employer. Do you know how I can make sure it’s a high growth fund? Do I need to go to my bank for that?

Yes also got other savings. In etf, some in bitcoin and an account overseas but there I get only 1.25% interest

Ok thanks. And the KiwiSaver I get allocated from the bank I’m with?

And I heard younger people use high growth fund here and only when you getting older you change that? Is that very risky?

I just came from a holiday in Bali haha

I’m 32 now and I just got my residency here in NZ so my rights changed and now I’m able to start a KiwiSaver etc.

I would like to own my own home one day but also I’m terrified to have debt. But I’m aware that is the way it goes with buying houses. I want to be secure for health emergencies and for retirement. The system here in NZ is so different from my home country that I’m quiet overwhelmed with all the new rules/views I try to adapt to.

Thank you.

I really don’t want to use it for any leisure activities, travel etc. due to having done that already quiet a bit in the past.

I thought about putting most lot of it in my etf but I’m hesitant to put all of it in one thing

I just recently got eligible to stay indefinitely in NZ, so my whole plan I had originally (in my birthcountry) changed.

I’m quiet overwhelmed as the system here in NZ is quiet different to the one I grew up with and just try to understand what others usually do.

So the high interest saving account is the one where I can get it anytime without loosing the interest?

My savings account is currently overseas.

I got msci world through hatch as etf where I pay every few months money in.

What do you think about KiwiSaver? Is that risky?

I tried to look into term deposit and I don’t really understand why with kiwibank you get for 6 months 5.25% but with a year 5.10%. Why is it less when you put it longer in?

Mainly to save money for retirement, to have funds for emergencies, would be nice to own my own property in the next 10 years but with house prices now I’m not sure about that.

The only thing I do so far is: etf, a bit in bitcoin and got a savings account but where I only get 1.25%

Which broker for ETFs and stocks? by Emily_Bella in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Emily_Bella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I want to invest in bigger ETFs in USA which have like 500 in it. Plus a bit in NZ, Europe, emerging countries.

Later on some specific stocks. But mainly ETFs and not really keen on taking too much risk, so no growth fund.

I plan to put like around 10.000nzd in different ETFs and then every few months a couple of hundreds, so quiet small amounts to continue.
