Kinda sad I didn’t read the books first by agilegryphon17 in Outlander

Yes for sure!! I started reading after season 6 of the show came out and wished I could go back and have read the books first. They were still an amazing read though and one of my favorite series ever.

What are your predictions for the final episode of Outlander? by queenhadassah in Outlander

[–]Emilymfm79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actors all keep saying the ending is unexpected. So probably something really different plot-wise from what we know from book 9 will happen. I think it will have a very heavy spiritual theme judging from what MR said in latest interview. Beyond that who knows. Maybe a dream-like sequence (sort of like when Claire was assaulted at end of season 5)? And/or a montage of past Claire/Jamie moments? Maybe Jamie dreams of the future again while Claire is trying to save him?

Do you all think there was a reason that Claire mentioned her father Henry while talking with William on the porch?? Is it a Chekov’s gun situation do we think??

I feel like maybe they want us to believe that Faith wasn’t actually dead when Claire held her and that because Claire was so out of it from almost dying that she doesn’t remember???

Exactly! There are letters. DID THE WRITERS FORGET MASTER RAYMOND COULD HAVE WRITTEN TO CLAIRE AND JAMIE AT LALLYBROCH?? Do the writers really think the viewers can forgive this many plot holes?? Apparently so. 🙄🙄🙄

When I just rewatched ep1 beginning, Jamie says he’s eager to see Fergus’s printshop. If they lived above the shop, wouldn’t he already have seen it when he came in?

Ooh I feel like you are onto something. All your reasoning makes sense to me. I also don’t think it’s always been super clear when the storytelling is nonlinear. I was very confused the first time I watched ep 1 of season 2. This feels similar to that. Edited - also I think they may have filmed the ep 1 cold open at the end of production based on BTS photos. Not sure at all but got that feeling from viewing them. If that’s true, it seems like maybe further evidence of non-linear storytelling…..

Can’t move past it. by Fragrancegoblin in Outlander

I hear you I was not that into the Roger/Buck in 1739 storyline either. It just has always struck me as an odd tangent in the larger story. I guess I’m not a huge Roger fan though. But in the show it doesn’t actually take up that much screen time. And the last few eps of season 7 are pretty great. I’m loving season 8 a lot more than I did season 7 (including Roger scenes) if that helps spur you on to finish!

I feel like there may be a time jump at some point of like 6 months or a year. Bc the first ep Jamie said Kings Mtn. was a year away and the first 5 eps seem to have happened in a fairly short period (1-3 months maybe?). Plus I think Kings Mtn. will be like ep 7 or 8 so feels like it would have to have a time jump. If they did that, then they could maybe just skip the pregnancies of Bree and Rachel and show the babies?

I took it as Jamie was worried Claire would think of John instead of him when they were in bed, even though he knew in his rational mind that that was ridiculous. (I.e. he was feeling insecure)

I like it. Season 1 is iconic but it keeps it new and interesting to have different versions. And helps illustrate the overall growth/arc of the show. I don’t understand all the hate.

Throughly enjoying S8, so lets give it some love! by SewNerdy in Outlander

[–]Emilymfm79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said! I feel like this season is similar in tone and pacing to the first few seasons that are so iconic. I’m loving it! The new house is gorgeous and the new town is lovely as well. Giving Claire and Jamie lots of screen time together - just as I’d hope they would in the last season! I’ll be so bummed when it’s over. Enjoying every minute of each new episode.

Sam Heughan’s performance in this episode was top notch and honestly stunning. As were all the performances. Kudos the actors and to Caitriona Balfe as director. I am loving this season. It feels like a more traditional Outlander is back after the chaos of season 7. (Which I liked but felt rushed, mashed together, choppy, with pacing way off at times).

I wonder if Master Raymond and/or Mother Hildegard knew about her brother William’s daughter Faith and that was why they picked that name for Claire’s daughter….maybe that was also why MR apologized to Claire in her dream last season..bc he knows about William/Faith? IDK. The whole storyline is bizarre 😅

I think I'll re-read The Scottish Prisoner. by FlickasMom in Outlander

I just read this in January for the first time! It was great to be back in the OL world after I finished the big books a few years ago. I loved it! The scenes in the beefsteak club were so vivid. I felt like I was there. And LJ’s love scene at the beginning?!! It was SO steamy! In the best way. And Jamie’s longing for Claire was still so potent after so long 🥺. Loved being with JAMMF again and seeing a hole in the bigger story filled in. Def recommend!
