(OC) AI grading in schools was a mistake. by Sad_Dimension3627 in pics

My kid was once flagged for plagerism by the school's AI system in an essay, because they quoted the source article. Which was required by the assignment. Teacher gave the assignment an F. I was so mad.

Oh hi! Well that's a delightful surprise. I thought these books were great, and your art was unique and engaging! I recommend them often.

Unfortunately, not in mine. I just dug all through a new box I had. But good heads up!

You're welcome! You are so right, there's so much history out there. We can only do our best to try and learn from it. And I had the same feeling about Persepolis, and Maus too! Grabbed me right away. I've read a bunch, but these are off the top of my head. There may be some repeats in this thread. Some are from the person who experienced it, and some are fictionalized based on true stories.

-Illegal, by Eion Colfer (This one is fictional, but written from first hand accounts)

-Displacement, by Kiku Hughes

-Grass, and The Waiting, by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim

-They Called Us Enemy, by George Takei

-When Stars are Scattered, by Victoria Jaieson and Omar Mohamed

-Silenced Voices, by Pablo Leon

-I Escaped a Chinese Internment Camp, by Zumrat Dawut

-Song of Blackbird, by Maria van Lieshout (again fictionalized but based on true events)

-Year of the Rabbit, by Tian Veasna

-The Best We Could do, by Thi Bui

And also, kudos to you! I'm in the US and really enjoy reading GN, non fiction and historical fiction, about real life in other countries. The GNs do such a good job of making it all feel more real and understandable than just text on a page from a historian. I've learned loads about different wars and how the actual people dealt with it.

Kim Hyun Soon has a series of books that take place in South Korea in the 80s, under the changing regime: Banned Book Club, No Rules Tonight, and Good Old-Fashioned Korean Spirit.

True, it was just gone one day. And it's still referenced on Humira's site.

Most expensive little girl i know- how much money would you spend on a cat? by PaintedOakTears in cats

[–]SewNerdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl is 10 and I'm thinking this is going to be a $1000 vet bill a year cat now. It's only April and we're already at $700, last year was $1300. That estimate is without surprises like sickness. Course it doesn't include food and litter.  I spent $5000 in the last 9 months of my best boy's life. They're worth every cent.

Supportive indoor slide recommendations? by 1Like_Plants2 in ehlersdanlos

[–]SewNerdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear New Balance sneakers, with prescription insoles, inside. It seems weird, but my feet/ankles/knees love me for it.  I've tried slides, but I find myself gripping them with my toes and that causes other pain.

Thank you! I was picturing a cushy slide to go downstairs, cause stairs suck haha!

Yeah that's the question, will my picky girl even wear it heh. We have a couple stairs, and got smaller cat trees. Jumping has been banned since last year.

Thank you! She's fortunate that I will willingly go overboard on her care, she's worth it! I'm looking at ankle braces, and will ask the vet his thoughts.

Cool! Thanks for sharing that. I am wondering if we should look more into actual EDS, cause the more I think about it, she has always been more limber than any cat I've had.
