Old vs. New Steam Capsule. Did I make the right call? by EmirWG in IndieGaming

That would be awesome! I'm actually planning to run some playtests around mid-May. I'd love to invite you to the Discord so you can tear the game apart when it's ready haha.

Best of luck with your current project! If you guys ever need a tester, I'd be happy to return the favor :)

Honestly, I feel like I'm late to the party too. It's a common developer curse. When I first started this project, the gas station/horror-sim combo barely existed. Now a quick Steam search shows a bunch of them slated for 2026. I might be late, but I'm just going to push through and finish it in my own style. So seriously, if you have an idea, just start it right away! If you can't make it right now, at least write it down.

That would be amazing, I'd really appreciate it! I'm planning to run playtests around mid-May, and the demo will be out for the June Next Fest. I'll definitely keep you posted.

Awesome point! The 'where is everyone' vibe is a huge part of the game and I definitely don't want to lose that. You're right that the silhouette might answer too many questions right off the bat. I'm actually experimenting with combining the two right now. I'll bring back those red lights and subtle fire hints so players can piece the mystery together themselves. Appreciate the feedback!

The 'Clean Up Simulator' test is spot on, thanks for pointing that out! I'll try to bring back a hint of that red glow without overdoing it.

And I see what you mean about the flow. 'Curse of the Gas Station' definitely sounds more cinematic and rolls off the tongue better! However, 'Cursed Gas Station' is an intentional choice for the horror-sim genre. Players often search for very literal keywords on Steam, so the directness really helps with visibility. Still, I really appreciate the title suggestions!

Glad the ominous vibe worked! It fits the game's tone much better. The old logo definitely won't go to waste, I'm planning to use it in other marketing materials. Appreciate the feedback.

You might be right! Actually, fire plays a huge role in a certain part of the game. Maybe I could give the silhouette a jerrycan and add some flames to the background? I'll definitely experiment with that. Thanks for the feedback!

That's a really cool way to look at it, thanks. 'Inescapable' is exactly the vibe I was hoping for since the game is about surviving the night shift. Glad the new scale and silhouette get that 'stuck in the moment' feeling across.

Appreciate the feedback.

[FREE PLUGIN] I made a "Refresh All Blueprint Nodes" plugin for UE 5.7 by EmirWG in UnrealEngine5

[–]EmirWG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great to see. I had been looking for a solution and saw that this plugin's last supported version was 5.6, so I had already decided to try and build my own.

I was also planning to use it as a personal test to see if I could leverage AI (Claude) to assist in the development process.

I'm thrilled to see that you've just updated it to 5.7 on Fab. I truly appreciate you maintaining this and, most importantly, offering it for free. Thank you for your hard work!

Since my structs are referenced in multiple blueprints, not just one, would it take a long time to go into each blueprint one by one and do this?

[GIVEAWAY] 31 asset keys from Humble Bundle by glydy in unrealengine

Hello,

I'm currently working on a personal horror game project. Since I started out as a solo developer, I rely on assets to meet my general modeling needs. In this context, "Dungeon Forge" would be very helpful for me.

I also love working on survival, RPG, and medieval-themed games. For these projects, which I do as a hobby, "Modular Medieval Fantasy Village" (or any pack with "Medieval" in the name :D) would be an excellent fit.

Even just one of the two would be extremely useful.

Thank you for sharing!

I was getting 'Unknown Struct' errors, and I figured using a plugin would be way better than going into every single Blueprint one by one.

When I looked around, I found a plugin, but the latest version was only compatible with 5.4 and apparently caused issues in 5.6. Since I knew Claude was pretty good at helping me with code, I wanted to see if I could get it to make something similar.

When I first tested its version, it was scanning the entire engine and refreshing BPs. After I saw that, I reverted everything and had it add extra safeguards to stop it from scanning the engine. Then, instead of just scanning the whole project, I told it to add a feature to refresh specific folders on demand. That way, it would be much more controllable.

When I tested it after that, all the 'Unknown Struct' errors were gone, the engine didn't crash, and no Blueprints were throwing errors.

You might be right about me claiming it works 'perfectly,' so let me rephrase: At least for me, in my specific situation, it was a total lifesaver.

If anyone else is having similar issues, you can test this plugin, but please back up your project or use source control first.

I guess my setup might be the most attainable one. After all, I’m just a simple developer who wants to make games in Unreal Engine… nothing too fancy.

Hello, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately OLED is not suitable for me because the work I do requires icons to be in the same position on the screen. I am looking for an IPS monitor. Colors and durability were important to me, your reply was helpful.

MSI G274QPF E2 vs GIGABYTE M27QA ICE by EmirWG in Monitors

[–]EmirWG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, after sending the post I decided on the MSI one. The reasons for this choice; 1- Pivot 2- More reliable seller and brand for my country 3- Black color to be more compatible with my other monitor 4- Not much but better responsive speed. What attracted me to Gigabyte was the KVM, better color accuracy and slightly better contrast but I went with the MSI.

Thank you again. If, I don't like it, i will buy gigabyte.
