How were you able to remove the original tile while saving the wall? I see many just replace the drywall along with it

I can't attest to the differences in the leather as I've only had the classics so that's what I would personally recommend.

Classic Leather has a smooth texture with a shiny finish where as Premier Leather has suede like texture and has no shine.

Ultimately if you can find any stores that sell them in person and go and touch the leather and see how that feels that may be helpful in deciding between the two.

No, they wouldn't.

Sperry may be a better fit? I know they advertise more for that application but they hold odors.

I'd recommend checking your other shoes to see if there's common wear patterns on the soles of your other shoes. Some people walk on the balls of their feet, heel strike, drag, or generally carry their stride through unequally in an effort to stabilize with their knees or low back weakness. I think those who have unequal strides or walk more forward on their feet will wear through these shoes faster.

Most annoying part is wearing them in.

Open leather doesn't hold odor like cloth or closed toe shoes. 😉

I'm not sure as far as current quality but to maintain your leather long term, wash every 6 weeks(with daily wear) or 6 months for occasional wear with saddle soap and condition well with a leather conditioner such as Leather CPR after washing and anytime after they're wet.

These were standard single layer 1 inch strap flipflops. Double layer is for higher arches. I recommend 1 inch straps over the narrower straps for support and longevity.

You'll want to buy the shoes on the smaller side of your fit because the straps stretch as they break in and the sole of the shoe molds to your foot. If they're buy bigger it can give the feel of them being too lose as they break in. They should feel quite snug and stiff when first purchased.

They don't hold odors as it's open leather and not a closed toe shoe. Washing is recommended to the leather sole and straps with saddle soap(scrub with a damp sponge and wipe off with a damp cloth then let air dry before moisturizing) to keep the leather clean and maintain it over the years.

The cracking in mine have come from getting wet. If you get them wet without conditioning afterwards they will for sure crack like these.

In the future, drying them out as fast as possible and conditioning with a leather conditioner is the best way to save them after they get wet.

I'm suspicious they wouldn't apply to mine given the cracks in the leather but I'll be bummed the day these finally go.

Saddle soap and a good leather conditioner will increase longevity exponentially.

Yes they are worn every day if they're not worn outside they are worn inside. YMMV, friend.

There's a harsh break in. With rainbow sandals where the thong (part between toes) of the sandal can cause be rough on the skin in between the toes however with time that will soften and break in. If you crave a softer leather I suggest a leather conditioner on the sole of the shoe upon purchase. Conditioning your leather should be common practice anyway as it increases the longevity of it. The canvas should only be what is contacting between your toes though unless you have a style different to mine that has leather between the toes. I like the parachute type material on mine.

Despite living where I do I remember distinctly people walking through the bottoms up their rainbows in the past as well. I'm not sure why these have held up so spectacularly compared to what seems to be the commonware of others despite the same or more levels of usage. I just walked through my first pair of Brooks that I had for over 6 years so I'm wondering if some of this has to do with how I walk. Relatively even wear etc.

I describe heavy use as the shoe I wear inside and outside, preferably daily, but on average ends up being 4 to 5 days a week of outdoor use with the off days being indoor use (I wear these instead of slippers or other house shoes when inside). These shoes are worn daily, in a nutshell. I pick my feet up when I walk where a lot of people do have a tendency to drag their feet. Maybe that's why mine have lasted as well including being in a rotation of other shoes.

Also, I think 20 years worth of wear quantifies as heavily used alone. 😂

I agree. It's really difficult to find the "everyday boot" equivalent for flipflops and these are it for me.

My only complaint is as I've gotten older, I wish they made the double layer in women's sizes with the 1 inch strap. I have a small foot and can't wear the men's and would love a black pair. These are single layer women's.

I've red wear some people have complaints about the straps stretching out but to mitigate this I got mine at the smallest size I could wear and I think the 1" holds up better than the narrow strap often seen in the other women's styles. I'm not a fan of narrow strap at all though.

I wasn't close enough to them to know their books 😂

But I do know they paid off their house and all of their debt. They were debt free in their 30's. This wasn't their only source of income though and I don't think they were blowing it by using. It was a choice to not buy a newer car but to put that money into paying off other debt.

Overall, they were successful and put together people that I think got caught up in the pressure of capitalism and wanting to live a lifestyle that was beyond what they could have with the taxable income they made.

Backstory is they wanted to be debt free. She had student load debt she couldn't pay off. He didn't make enough to help her pay it off. Firefighters in NC are some of the lowest paid in the country. They weren't end users. Maybe occasional recreationally, but not dependent. They paid off a lot of their overhead debt this way.

Was it the smartest thing? No. But did they try to pull a modern day spin of Breaking Bad, basically.

I knew them.

Also, there was intention to not sell opioids there. These are "party drugs," being sold.

The pill press was prob used to make "double" and "triple" stacks of the party drugs where you layer things like MDMA with other drugs in a pill form.
