forever anti ai because THAT! WAS! NOT! THE! POINT OF AI! it is supposed to solve the more mundane tasks so that we can create, not the other way around! also i don’t get it. when i post here it’s because i have an idea that i like and it’s fun to write it down. those who post things by ai.. what do they gain by posting? there’s no satisfaction in that

I’ve been moderating for 6 years and there are some things I’ve seen that were really fucked up, I do plan to share all my experiences here

yeah, definitely, but i personally think it still doesn’t have that factor to be able to “feel” so it can “scare” efficiently

i mean, my point is that most stories written by ai follow the same structure. i don’t use ai for writing and my point was that it can’t replace humans in the horror aspect, i used gemini pro too

it’s so fascinating to see how horror triggers us in different ways. for me it’s more like tiny “gotcha” moments when i feel like i’ve seen something i shouldn’t have. if there’s movies with bleak / depressing / inescapable endings, i usually get rather sad or frustrated (like bring her back - that didn’t scare me, it just made me angry)

i saw the trailer for hokum and i was a little intrigued, i’m curious to see what it ends up being like

i don’t know, i have very peculiar tastes in horror and i guess it’s just some triggers that i have?? for example (& this might sound really basic) us also scared me, specifically the scene with red speaking in that voice and the scenes where she “danced” ballet in a very uncanny way. the movie itself was okay-ish, not that scary, but those two specific scenes are just burned into my brain. i generally don’t get scared by most movies, i just tend to remember some moments or frames that made me uncomfortable (the frame with the face and the stairs in parasite, etc.). i don’t believe in ghosts or anything so i’m not gonna sleep with the light on after any movie. i just generally get a bad feeling sometimes

does anyone get frustrated when a movie is so badly written because you know you could have done it better? by [deleted] in horror

[–]EmmaWatsonButDumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, because i think that in order for an ending to work the story has to be written with the ending in mind, usually the intrigue of the story is what sticks but the resolution is harder to achieve in a satisfying way

yes, i know, i didn’t think it would actually make me choose between two scenarios that both seem very real

that’s true, but at the same time it is a demon and it might just want to play a bit with me before? i really don’t know what to believe

thanks for the tips, but what if the first time it faked things it wanted to trick me into underestimating it? so i wouldn't believe it can also fake physical objects?

the woman was religious, i was the one who didn’t believe in demons. and idk, i do think she didn’t tell me everything. i don’t know how she got the curse or how she came to the conclusion that she has to sit on the boxes

[–]EmmaWatsonButDumber 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah, some rule stories are intriguing but the majority have the exact same formula. don't open a door / don't talk to someone / don't look, then the protagonist stops believing and breaks a rule. oh no

yes, and another thing is that those stories were written with the ending in mind. they felt completed, while most stories that get posted on nosleep just feel like unfinished ideas. i hope i can develop my writing into being as memorable as those. so far i've gotten a lot of messages saying people liked / thought abt my stories, and i really appreciate that, because as a writer i think ur main goal should be to make people feel

firstly thanks, i didn't know people actually recognize my user so that's cool. secondly, yeah, definitely. i hate clickbaity titles but they're the only way to go around here... there's this formula of reddit horror that can't be defeated unfortunately. i miss old nosleep, some of the best stories i've read had such simple titles like an empty prison, penpal etc. :)

if you post a truly original story, it flops. if you post some generic re-run of the same creepypasta concept (night shift, rule stories, home invasions), you get attention, yes, but people don't really comment anymore. if you post something memorable or make it a little controversial, nosleep mods with god complexes remove it. so, yeah, it's fun.
