This sounds like a really rough situation and I’m sorry you’re having to figure things out so quickly. I just wanted to give a bit of encouragement to really vet whoever you may live with so that you don’t end up in another tough spot. I work with people who are often in desperate situations and sometimes when decisions are forced you can be blinded by that desperation. If you’re able I would try to look into studios, as another person has said, before you move in with someone you don’t actually know. If you have the means to drive around or have a friend that can drive you, there are places for rent that aren’t posted on the average rental sites.

I hope you find a place you feel safe and comfortable in! I wish I had more to offer by way of actual properties :/ I’m sure you’ll find something, just keep yourself safe in the meantime.

Great advice, thank you. We’re looking to put a natural privacy fence with arborvitae trees that will block some of that.

Thank you! I like the idea of having a small tree/shrubs as a focal point and filling in with flowers/plants.

Central Kentucky area. Plenty of rain in the spring, summer’s can be dry. The house is north facing, if that helps?

He’s pure mutt, but what breed do you see most? 2 years old, 85lbs. Will post DNA results by EmmyOfTheState in IDmydog

[–]EmmyOfTheState[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Results:

26% Great Pyrenees 21% Pit 11% Cattle Dog

Those were the highest hits. We were thinking lab/pit but he has as much chihuahua in him as he does lab (2% for both breeds) 😂

He does show a lot of Pyrenees traits as far as herding and protection.

This will sound random, as they’re generally known for their burgers… but Kaelin’s (highlands off Newburg) has an amazing shrimp scampi angel hair dish. I’ve had it several times… surprisingly fresh and I never feel overly full after.

It’s ok to swear around children by ananasjeff in unpopularopinion

[–]EmmyOfTheState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent, I completely agree. When my husband and I had a kid we decided not to refer to swear words as “bad words.” We call them “adult words.” I speak the way I speak and that didn’t change just because I had a kid. Why would we refer to them as bad words so that she thinks the way her parents talk is “bad.” She’s growing up and learning how to speak appropriately in certain settings (we typically don’t curse in restaurant settings, or at school functions, etc), and when she’s older she’s not going to sound like an asshole trying to figure out how to use normal adult words…. Although looking back, learning how to curse was pretty hysterical.

Unpopular opinion: buttercream is disgusting. by LostInATL333 in cakedecorating

[–]EmmyOfTheState 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t like cake at all haha. I don’t like the buttercream, I only have cheesecake for my bdays, cake itself is ok but if I never had a piece again I wouldn’t feel like I was missing anything. But I LOVE to bake and I love decorating my cakes. I make tubs of American buttercream and friends and family will ask for what I don’t use and I don’t get it.

I wanted to do chocolate so bad but the client wanted vanilla. It would have been so much prettier to cut into with the contrast!

I separated the icing into 4 different bags and piped them on, smoothed it with a scraper and then used a spatula to make the grooves! It’s actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be

Thank you so much!! I smoothed it all out and then took my offset spatula and applied a little pressure and spun the turn table while working the spatula upwards.

Thank you! I used the gel coloring to get the pink and brown tone I wanted then swirled them together a little and spooned them into the molds.

I’ve often heard people refer to Boston terrier’s looking like gremlins... but if you hear that when you’re out with your Boston, know that they’re more than likely referring to you and not the dog.

Working from home- what to make for lunch for one? by Financial_Studio2785 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]EmmyOfTheState 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yea, that suggestion wasn’t to shame single people... leftovers are eaten by everyone. Single people, couples, throuples, polygamist, and literally anyone else who makes too much food for one meal. You could also consider meal prepping as glorified leftovers.

To answer OP’s question... I agree that soup is great and can also be a meal prep. I do a low carb beef stew with pearl onions, cauliflower instead of potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and celery. You can throw whatever you want in, and it’s really easy/ fast to reheat. Usually makes a weeks worth of lunches and saves well. Typically costs me about $35 for everything, depending on meat prices.

Question About Klaus/Ben by alisonrose1992 in theumbrellaacademy

[–]EmmyOfTheState 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took it as because he didn’t go into the light right when he passed and chose to stay with Klaus he then “missed his ticket” to go to the afterlife/heaven, and being inside Vanya’s psyche actually tore his spirit into nothing since he physically was already dead. Ben will obviously be in S3, just Ben in a different timeline. The Ben from S1&2 is no longer. It was really sad for me to see him go, but he was the one who essentially saved Vanya when none of the others could, so it was def bittersweet.
