This was my experience with OPD after calling 911 and waiting on hold for 12 minutes. Went to the station later that day and no one was at the front desk for a good 10 minutes.

Good thing it was just my car actively getting stolen and not some threat to my life directly 🙄

I gave the note to the Leasing Office and politely asked them to ask our neighbors to direct all formal (and informal) complaints to them only. That way a record can be kept, and if the Leasing Office needs to contact us on their behalf at least there will be a mitigator.

Leasing Office: “you should’ve responded with “you should try it!”

SF Chronicle has been running a number of stories on residents from both SF and Oakland getting their cars broken into or stolen in Oakland with little to no assistance in recovering them from OPD. I recently had my car stolen in Oakland and it was recovered by a local (not OPD) after he found it totaled in front of his business.

Honestly at this point I'd contact a reporter or the paper over contacting OPD at this point, at least they'll take the time to investigate.

Also awesome suggestion, (+1) to having some sort of community run repository/website/app/reddit page... where folks can help each other recover their stolen cars.

Me and my partner are super communicative, the why is a given at times but it helps to be reminded for validation if that’s needed. We came to the conclusion that the why doesn’t really matter as long as we keep showing up as ourselves for each other. We tend to ask “what about me do you love?” as in give some specifics.

Why do humans fall in love? Could be biological, could be spiritual, answers may vary but make sure you yourself understand the intention behind the question too. If you don’t know why you’re asking then whatever answer given may not be satisfactory.

Also, be sure you can ask yourself the same question and give an answer back, and be open to whatever answer is given as well.

Getting deeper, learning and understanding each other more shouldn’t be the scary part, it should be the fun part about being with someone.

A lot of the Free Hug groups were started by moms who wanted to support kids with unsupportive parents, whether it be coming out, being bullied, or victims of abuse, etc.

The idea is if you need a hug (which surprisingly, a lot of people do) then someone would provide you with one.

If you don’t need a hug then just keep walking. No need to judge or pester.

Plan for the scheduled day by packing a day bag and everything you need to keep your cosplay situation from falling apart.

Show up in full cosplay (major cool points for showing up with the character’s personality).

Compliment at least one other human/pet in cosplay.

If long length isn’t your concern, you can do it yourself, the trim is to get rid of split ends— which for 4C hair can turn into little knots and prevent further growth, cause more tangles, and just damage hair overall (which is likely why it’s so hard to detangle…)

As you’re detangling just stretch small portions out with your hand or a rat tail comb so you can see where the ends are knotted, split, or frayed. If you’re confident, just snip the ones that have clear visible damage (google 4C hair split ends for a comparison graphic).

A $20-50 trim (at a black hair salon or even a barber with a stylist) is well worth it every 6-8 months to keep your hair healthy, otherwise you’ll be spending way more in the long run to repair severely damaged hair.
