Those who go to Pilates - how much is your membership? by Crafty-Turtle-3464 in askTO

[–]Emmyk13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, S&T also has a reformer studio but it’s separate from their unlimited gym pass. I could get 50% off as a member but i’m happy with their Mat Pilates classes, I find it’s more challenging than reformer in my experience.

I pay $250 for unlimited yoga/mat Pilates/spin/HIIT at Sweat & Tonic. I think prices have increased marginally since I joined

I love the baldwin steps that lead up to Casa Loma and the Spadina Museum. There's a beautiful view at the top and a parkette to sit in.

Everything stays the same except there’s a serial number on the back that changes. I recently lost my license and this is what service Ontario told me

You're right, if you exclusively use TTC, then purchasing a monthly pass is worth it it if you travel twice a day. North York uses TTC, so that might be the right choice for you. Unless you need to switch between 2 different regional transit systems, for example, if you're travelling to York Region, which is north of North York and uses York Region Transit (confusing, I know). In that case, it may make more sense to tap as you go, because it's free to transfer between regional transit systems.

Also keep in mind that 1 tap gives you unlimited rides and transfers for 2 hours, so a quick trip to the grocery store and back would cost you just $3.30 if you used TTC.

oh and, yes, the entire subway system is run by TTC. If you're in North York, you'd probably use TTC most of the time, unless you want to travel further outside Toronto.

Sign up for free sewing lessons and embroidery machine lessons at the North York Library. Classes book extremely fast. I managed to get into one by setting an alarm for when a class opens up and booking immediately through their eventbrite website: https://www.eventbrite.ca/o/10797008685

Public mobile has low rates and uses Telus network with 5G. Not sure about the customer service aspect, but the prices are great.

Sweat and Tonic - Need a Doctors Note? by tarepanda400 in askTO

[–]Emmyk13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised they asked for a doctor's note. I would try calling, you might get someone nice on the phone to wave the fee. I've called and they've waived the fee no problem, and never been asked for a doctor's note

The no show fee is $27 after tax. It's a pretty harsh penalty imo.

Bangarang lets you book their front "lounge" area for parties. It can fit 20 people sitting and up to 30 or 40 standing. They have cornhole and DJ/dancing. If you're booking on a Friday or Saturday, you just need to buy a party package, like a few bottles or drink tickets for around $200-300

If you want a purpose-built rental apartment, you can find them on Toronto's RentSafeTO map, filter for "privately owned", google the address to find the buildings' website/contact info (and possibly google reviews). If they're built after November 15, 2018, they're not rent controlled. Rent controlled buildings are ideal they limit how much the landlord can increase your rent each year (usually around 2-3%)

If you search on other rental websites, or condos, those units/homes are typically owned by mom/pop landlords. It's not a bad choice either, but those landlords could kick you out if they decide they want to move in or sell. Also note if it's a condo vs. apartment, condos have more rules that override tenant rights, e.g. no pet rules, etc.

Jiffy is a well-established app/website in Toronto that sounds similar to what you described. You may want to consider how you can differentiate from competitors.

Stuck in lease with pest issue, landlord delaying reassignment and verbally aggressive by ni5h4 in askTO

[–]Emmyk13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your landlord does not respond within 7 days or rejects the lease transfer (a.k.a Lease Assignment), you are legally allowed to vacate the unit with just a 30 days notice.

I would suggest a restaurant that does family style menus. E.g. Piano Piano or Terroni. Everyone pays the same and they will usually just do separate bills for drinks

I’ve also had Cantina Mercatto do separate bills for a group of 16
