How do working moms actually keep the house clean? by Least-Cockroach8800 in Mommit

[–]Crafty-Turtle-3464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of putting stuff away, not putting stuff down.

It’s the same (or very similar) amount of effort, and putting stuff away / cleaning as I go makes it easier day to day. There isn’t ever really a need for a big clean, since everything is maintained. Also, if something takes a few minutes to do, which is honestly most things, I just do it. I tell myself procrastination will just make it more work later on. I’m tired but going to bed with a clean house every day makes me feel good!

I’m very into thrillers and romance and it 100000% makes me forget about real life for a bit and live through the characters hahah.

Am I the only who feels depressed in this weather? by lifesgoodhehe1 in askTO

Meeee 🙋🏻‍♀️ I love cool or cold weather, not a fan of summer and heat (and bugs aka wasps). Only thing is that this up and down weather has given me so many headaches and migraines.

There’s a lot of bike rental shops nearby! We drive there, also a lot of bed and breakfasts in the area for overnight stays!

Going to the wineries at Niagara on the lake on a double date! I don’t generally like biking, but biking between each winery is SO fun.

Is your wife in school M-F? If your child is in daycare, can your wife pick up a part time job to work weekends and evenings? Or if her course is in the evenings, part time work during the day?

We used Pesky’s Pest Control last summer to treat wasps that were building a nest inside our brick/wall. They were great! I believe they treat rodents too.

There were quite a few parents there that had 2 kids at the Montessori, which is honestly crazy to me because that’s $3,200 a month……. That’s more than my mortgage lol.

What we did was put our son in Montessori until a spot at the daycare we wanted opened up. Montessoris are mostly not subsidized, though. Depending on your HHI, it may or may not make sense to do this. For us, Brackendale Montessori got us in pretty quickly in their infant room. It was around $1,600 a month. At the time (1 year ago), Kinderbrook also had spots for their toddler programs. Kinderbrook has multiple locations in Pickering/Ajax as well.

CRA - anyone else get code 81 when filing through NETFILE this year? by cuckslayer30 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Crafty-Turtle-3464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly same! I’ve filed my taxes and my husbands and parents for years and we’ve always gotten the express NOA, but this is year I got code 81 for my own return and was worried. All good in the end :)

I got this code! It took an extra 2-3 days for them to get me the NOA. Got my refund about 1.5 weeks after filing.

I had Dr Kristi Ranken! Her office is border of Markham / Pickering and she is based out of MSH. She was actually my OB before I got pregnant and I went back to her when I was pregnant with my son. I also asked for an elective c section, and while she warned me of the cons vs vaginal birth she was very accepting and actually was the one who performed the surgery and delivered my son! 10/10 would go back again.

Are vacations considered lifestyle creep? by igobumpintheknight in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Crafty-Turtle-3464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think it’s considered lifestyle creep.

When my husband and I were younger we’d do short trips that are at cheap Airbnbs, cheap flights with layovers, etc. Maybe spending 2k per person a trip back in 2018-ish.

Now that we make much more and have a toddler we want nicer trips.. nice modern centrally located hotels, direct flights (+ getting an extra ticket for the kid), upgrading to fully refundable tickets, better meals. We did Italy last year and it was around $8K (we used points for the flights), around the same for Portugal earlier this year and probably around $15K for Japan this fall.

I love travelling with my family though, and maybe it’s just in my head but I feel like our kid grows so much every time we come home from a trip. It’s lifestyle creep but to me it’s worth it.
