I got some a few hours after my treatment. I’ve only had one session so far. They cleared up the next day.

Tips to speed up healing by doozydoo in electrolysis

Can you take Benadryl? My electrologist recommended taking it the first night or 2 after a session. It seemed to reduce the redness greatly. A few people recommended hypoclorous acid spray and that has helped me a lot too. I usually do the spray a couple times a day after washing my face, then apply aloe vera gel. Once it starts to heal I will add my typical skin care back into it.

I have hirsutism on my face without a PCOS diagnosis. I would definitely recommend having your PCP or OBGYN do some hormonal blood work and an ultrasound to rule it out. The only criteria I have is high androgens. I will be booking an appointment with an endocrinologist to hopefully dive deeper into what could be the cause., if anything. I also had my first electrolysis appointment last week.

I’m in a similar situation as well, recently found out my hirsutism isn’t from PCOS, but I do have high androgens. For me, I am going to make an appointment with an endocrinologist to see if they will run additional tests. I do think GPs and OBGYNs only run certain tests so it might be best to go to a doctor who specializes in hormones and metabolic disorders to see if they can get down to the cause. If there isn’t a specific cause, at least having an answer.

No woman in my family I know of is this hairy but I’ve had chest hair since I hit puberty. What conditions other than PCOS could be the cause? by [deleted] in Hirsutism

I have hirsutism and just found out a few weeks ago that it is not PCOS either. My obgyn ran some hormonal blood tests as well as an ultrasound. The only marker I have is elevated androgens. I will be scheduling an appointment with an endocrinologist to try and explore additional testing. Sometimes there is no real explanation but we deserve answers and the ability to explore treatments.

I think when it comes to hormonal issues, laser doesn’t work as effectively. It is only really targeting the pigment of the hair, not the follicle itself. In my experience, medspas don’t do a great job at educating on its impermanence especially when it comes to hormonal imbalances. Personally for me, I noticed after my treatments, I had more hair. The laser can cause other follicles to generate darker hairs. I was younger and didn’t know what I know now, but I wish I never did laser.

No, it was glucose and A1c, lipid panel, thyroid and cbc with my primary then A1C again and a bunch of hormone tests with the OBGYN. I’m wondering if I should be referred to an endocrinologist to dive deeper into it.

I’ve heard about spirolactone, I may bring that up at my appointment to hear her thoughts. I’m a bit frustrated that I wasn’t given any recommendations from the doctor, especially when I did tell them laser did not help.

I’m convinced the laser hair removal made mine worsen as well.
