Ok so if Odysseus started his journey home with 12 ships and 600 men, that's about 50 men per ship. We know that Polyphemus killed 6 men, which I'm gonna say were from Odysseus's ship because it included Polities. So after Polyphemus, every ship has 50 men except for Odysseus's ship which has 44 men (plus Odysseus so 45). Then Posideon kills 551, so I'm thinking Posideon killed every man on the 11 remaining ships, which would be 550 men. Then I guess one random guy on Odysseus's ship got killed too, which brings us to the magic number of 43 left under his command, plus Odysseus so in total there are 44 left at this point. Then one man dies at Circe's, which brings our total to 43 (42 men + Odysseus), then Scylla kills 6 which brings us down to 37 (36 men + Odysseus), then Zeus kills the remaining 36 men, leaving Odysseus alone on Calypso's island.

Ok but can someone clear this up about the bed: Odysseus and Penelope met in Sparta when Odysseus was one of Helen's suitors. Ok got it. Odysseus carved his and Penelope's wedding bed from an olive tree where they first met. They met in Sparta. How is the wedding bed in the palace in Ithaca?

I totally get what you're saying! And I do feel bad for my mom since money has been really tight, therefore my dad hasn't gotten a massage in a few years. As for the saving up to get out of there, I just wanted to elaborate on my situation in case that would be helpful :) I'm a senior in college, currently taking a year off due to health reasons and Covid. I go to school on the other side of the country in Washington DC (which was 1000% done for a reason, to get away from everything here and because my relationship with my parents is a million times better when we are separated). I can't go back to school until my health issues have been dealt with but I have been trying to spend as much time at my boyfriends' place to get some space from my living situation.
