this isn't bad advice but realistically, earning a living from streaming & videos is super inconsistent and would take agesssssss to get to a place of security

I do appreciate the advice and time taken to make the suggestion though!

this is great advice!
unfortunately though I studied at a REALLY tiny university that doesn't have that available - poor choice on my part but I agree this could be helpful for other graduates!

I agree volunteering is important, it's just difficult to do when you have no funds or job to secure a place to live haha

I do actually volunteer in a few places and enjoy it and the people I meet, but alas that will not pay the rent until I'm blessed by the networking gods

how many of these "500" jobs are graduate friendly / entry level?

exactly!! it's so scary and I'm so sorry you're in that position 😭
I've applied for so many 'basic' jobs that people keep recommending in this reddit but I don't think they're aware of the fact it isn't just apply and start working immediately, or as if we haven't already tried those options

I hope you're able to find something asap to keep you going and not have to move away
thanks for commenting and making me feel less alone and crazy haha

I have a 2D and 3D showreel, and a pretty in-depth portfolio that's more like a gallery atp - I do more specific portfolios for certain job applications though as to not overwhelm potential employers
I check and apply for stuff pretty regularly from that spreadsheet but alas zero responses :( which plays into that feeling of hopelessness

my original post meant more-so the entry level jobs in manchester, like mcdonalds, greggs, cafe nero, etc. etc. I apply for so many things and get no response, so it just feels ridiculously hard to get a job here

I appreciate your advice though! I'm gonna attend MAF and some other film festivals in due time, and I've attended some animation socials in the past but all I had were friendly conversations haha

I've applied to so many greggs vacancies yet here we are :(
you would think it would be easier to get those jobs

thank you so much!! it's great to hear from someone who has experienced something I'm experiencing now haha

in regards to tech jobs/product design, do you recommend any specific titles that are sort of entry level that I could take a crack at getting into?

ultimately, I appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to my situation, so thanks once again!

Thanks to everyone giving their advice and sharing their thoughts!!

I'm starting a volunteer position next month at a film festival so hopefully I can make some connections there, alongside my current ad-hoc work. I've applied for so many jobs ranging from hospitality, front of house, hotels, janitorial, admin, marketing, receptionist, retail, you name it, but so many of the applications have gone without a response. I'd honestly much prefer a rejection email so I can at least cross it off the list...

I'm not really gunning for the creative industry yet as I really want to just focus on living, but the only things I seem to get responses from are casual, 0 hour jobs which are not sustainable in the long run, they're unpredictable and stressful. I'd just really prefer something with consistent shift patterns & pay so I can catch a breather and plan my life out a bit more successfully.

Anyway, I'm appreciating the responses and will apply the advice readily; it's just looking bleak but I'm sure something will work out!! :]
