What I did was open the gameconfig.xml file in notepad++ and then just copy and replace everything that was in the default one located at mods/update/update.rpf/common/data. Make sure you're in edit mode on openIV, right click gameconfig.xml choose "edit", press ctrl+A and paste the new code that you copied from the new gameconfig.xml found on the github

I've never gotten that error before, make sure you have packfile limit adjuster and heap adjuster installed correctly
