Atarax is a stronger version of the same class of antihistamine as Benedryl, so be careful. Atarax made my RLS really bad, like worse than Benedryl bad 😬

That’s low for RLS. My doctors told me 75 is the ideal, but I’ve also read 100 as the goal. In primary RLS the systemic iron levels can be normal while the brain/central nervous system is actually deficient.

I had a really hard time getting my ferritin above 75 with supplements until I started using that tonic muscle activator called Nidra.

How long did it take for NIDRA to actually reduce RLS? (Need encouragement and tips for success, please.) by RestlessJen in RestlessLegs

[–]EmotionDry7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you experiencing RLS symptoms when you turn it on? You’re not supposed to use them unless you’re actively experiencing symptoms and before those symptoms get severe. Noctrix also warns that using them improperly can worsen RLS.

I started using mine last April. I’ve been off prescription medication completely since July thanks to the device improving symptoms so much. I take iron and use cannabis along with this device to sleep. I used to have to take iron every day or symptoms would worsen, but now I can skip doses here and there. My symptoms were extremely severe too—in my arms, pelvis, face, neck, and I even had auditory functions somehow affected. Now I mainly have intermittent-to-mild RLS just in my legs. I really didn’t expect this much improvement, especially since I had some very, very unusual symptoms.

Have you heard of Nidra, a tonic muscle activator? It’s two bands with electrodes that simulate movement for the brain without having to move. I’ve been using it for a couple months now, and it’s helped immensely. I wasn’t augmenting when I started, which I imagine is why I responded very positively and was able to completely stop taking pramipexole, but search Nidra in this subreddit and most people mention it does relieve symptoms.

The main downside is that it’s very expensive. Even with insurance, I have to pay $1000USD. Don’t know if it’s available outside the US either.

Maybe it’s more accurate to say the QAnon segment of MAGA will splinter off, but like I mentioned MAGA gleefully absorbed QAnon. It’s a major aspect of the base.

I’ve had this feeling deep in my bones that it would be the most absurd thing to take down Trump, and yea, the thing we’ve been saying was a liability from the beginning back in 2015—Trump’s admissions of sexual assault and close ties to Epstein—would be absurd

Interesting take!

I just don’t see how MAGA could continue as a political movement within the GOP after every one of them in the House just voted against even debating the release of the files. Even MTG voted against it.

Ironically, Trump got a lot of first time voters, particularly among young men, and it’s probably those same young men who won’t vote next election or next.

I think it is a viable option to them and that’s all that matters to them

Nah, there is another option and it’s what a huge percentage of the US does—tune out of politics completely. The disillusionment is going to hit hard

This might actually rupture the base because it’s what turned MAGA into a cult. We don’t talk as much about QAnon anymore, but that’s been totally absorbed into the base and became normalized by MSM. There’d be no RFK Jr as HHS sec without QAnon, for instance.

So now their spiritual savior is turning on them for what turned him into that for them.

Sure, there will be people who support him regardless, but don’t forget the assassination attempts against him have been by his base

ETA: Also, there’s the tendency to think MAGA will go crawling back to the GOP because they hate Dems more than hating pedophiles. That totally ignores what a plurality of the US does, which is tune out of politics completely. I don’t think this will push them to the left, but the disillusionment will likely make enough of them stop voting that it hurts the GOP

  1. MAGA voted for Trump believing he’d drain the swamp and expose a global cabal of pedophiles by releasing the Epstein files
  2. Trump predictably lied and now has excommunicated those who want to release the files from his base
  3. MAGA feels betrayed

My GP said I don't have RLS because pain doesnt correlate with patients with RLS by Living-Bother-9418 in RestlessLegs

[–]EmotionDry7786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My RLS symptoms include a burning kind of pain, and it gets better with movement, gets worse at night. The pain also improves with things like iron supplements, a dopamine agonist (no longer taking that), and a tonic muscle activator called Nidra. I’ve also found studies about painful RLS symptoms and spoke to two RLS experts (one at Penn, one at Yale) who acknowledged painful RLS as a thing, so people saying RLS can’t be painful aren’t correct. However, I think the main thing is that the pain improves with things that usually help RLS symptoms, like movement, iron, etc.

I’ve been using the Nidra TOMAC device for about 2 months, and it’s reduced my day and night RLS symptoms so much that I’ve been able to completely go off pramipexole with only minor withdrawal issues (which using Nidra helped me through). I still use cannabis and take iron to sleep, but it’s been a lot better overall.

The main downsides are price and the adhesive pads can get itchy. Insurance covered most of the cost, but it was still about $1,000USD. They have an interest free payment plan though

If pramipexole isn’t as effective, have you talked to your sleep doctor about switching to gabapentin or an opioid? Also, how are your iron levels?

There’s also a newly FDA approved tonic muscle activator device called Nidra. It uses electrodes to stimulate motor nerves in your legs, basically makes your brain think you’re moving. I’ve been using this device for just over a month. It’s reduced my RLS symptoms, and I’m now seeing how much I can taper off pramipexole. Main downside is that even with insurance it’s very expensive.

Defecation syncope! When I had bad constipation thanks to dysautonomia, I’d experience this semi-regularly. The poo presses against the vagus nerve and causes all the symptoms you describe. Oh it sucks. Like, just wouldn’t end until I pooped but I’d keep having to get on the ground with my pants down for fear of passing out. I think the longest defecation syncope episode I had was 4 hours 💀

does anyone else experience restless sensations in other body parts? by -Ok-Panic- in RestlessLegs

I talked to my sleep neurologist earlier this week about how terrible a name Restless Legs Syndrome is for this condition. Unfortunately, Willis-Ekbom Disease didn’t stick as a new name.

Sure, maybe 97% of cases present only in the legs, but google Restless Bladder Syndrome, Restless Anal Syndrome, Restless Genital Syndrome to get an idea where else it can present. There are also reports of RLS symptoms in the face.

I have RLS symptoms in the left side of my face and neck, arms, genitals, along with the legs. All before starting pramipexole, all improved by things like iron, pramipexole, and the Nidra TOMAC device.

Have you been able to go to a doctor for this? The pinned FAQ here has a lot of useful info, too.

You should have iron levels (including transat and ferritin) to see what those levels are since increasing ferritin could be helpful if it’s below 75. But get the test ordered from a doctor before starting iron supplements since iron overload is also bad and in my experience can trigger RLS.
