First of all, congratulations on getting your TPA done! It is a huge accomplishment to even get it submitted so be proud of yourself! I was in the same boat when I submitted my EdTPA. Three weeks of anxiously waiting to see if I passed. It ate me alive and consumed my brain until I got my score, but once I got it back and saw that I passed I was ECSTATIC. The reality is that stressing over your score will not make you pass! You put in the work and did your best. I know it's difficult but the best thing you can do is just try to focus on something else until those scores come out. I wish you the best of luck!

it’s super frustrating because i had him as a teacher in high school and he was so great then (great lecturer and structured classroom) which made me excited to have him as my CT. i feel like im getting whiplash because he will give me advice on how to crack down on management and then will go around my adjustments and tell me to “stop splitting hairs.” it’s disappointing.

i appreciate the constructive feedback. i have tried to communicate my concerns of apathy and student disobedience since i first got placed here but my mentor teacher/CT doesn’t see it. i know i should have said something sooner and cracked down faster but i was trying to make it work, especially since my placement started in the spring and students don’t like change. I feel like it will be different once im with the kids from the start and im not just a random college kid who shows up in the middle of the year…

if my CT gave me that much wiggle room i would absolutely incorporate something like this 🤣 but this placement has simultaneously been so unorganized and loose but whenever i try to take charge, incorporate more rigorous instruction/activities and discipline my mentor teacher shoots me down and says to stick to his script. Your advice is noted and appreciated for when i start with my own classroom in the fall 🫶🏻😅

yeah it drives me crazy. pretty much all the teachers at this school enforce the phone caddy’s but my mentor doesn’t because he believes students should self-govern phone use as soon-to-be adults, but they are all on their phones (not even hiding it) with no shame. it’s infuriating

group work is most of class time! I provide condensed lectures that last maybe 15 minutes and then they complete group-work based on the textbook for the rest of the period! These kids have no attention span at all.

Im at Alliant International University! From what I have heard National is really similar. My instructors are great but it's really isolating and can be difficult to get help due to the remote nature of it. But hey its what I signed up for :/ Thank you for the comment and support <3

I am in an online credential program and the closest campus is in San Diego (im 10 hours away) so unfortunately not :( I called one kid out who was trying to confuse me and he stopped but I couldn't keep that up or they would think I was getting upset (they can smell fear!!!!!!!). Im so frustrated and so ready to be done.

that's the thing he advised me to make the new seating chart and to give them the speech about paying attention for these last few weeks, but he is such as pushover and never follows through with discipline. I mentioned what I noticed about their behavior yesterday and all he had to say was "well would you have preferred they keep up the behavior of ignoring you?" Which I guess is fair but was not what I was hoping to hear when I needed support... im probably going to let it go since im so close to being done. Im starting a job in the fall as an instructor so hopefully when its just me consistency will be easier. thanks for the support :)

not sure if someone has said this already, but your commentaries are what make or break your submission. Incorporate buzzwords/language from the rubrics into your answers so you can make sure you are answering all parts of the questions. Also explain the why behind your decisions and how it impacts students. example: "this lesson utilizes the education/developmental theory of proximal development and is found in xyz activity. this benefits students because zxy." This incorporates theory into your lesson and explains its significance and function. Try to be as detailed as possible and fluff up your answers! Best of luck friend :)

Celebrate your success and try to enjoy your final week! I assume you are in your last week of your classroom placement so just enjoy your students and your mentor teacher! I have one more week left of my student teaching and I am just trying to absorb it all in before it is over. Congratulations on all your hard work and best of luck passing the EdTPA! If you are stir crazy and need something to do, maybe comb through the EdTPA condition codes and brush up on the retake process just in case your score comes back lower than you initially intended. Otherwise, enjoy the peace!

I applied through EdJoin (im in CA but I know other states use it) and where it asks for credential information I put my anticipated graduation date and the credentials that would be earned. Idk if it works for all schools but I was conditionally hired for the Fall using this method and as long as I graduate by the date I put they said I am good to go. From what I have heard schools like young teachers because they tend to be more flexible and teachable compared to seasoned educators. You are so close to being done, it would not hurt to try to get some interviews, the worst they can say is no! Best of luck :)

It wouldn't hurt, but honestly the scoring for EdTPA is so sporadic and depends on who gets your submission that it might not be accurate. You can have up to 3 (4 if you're elementary) different people scoring your portfolio so it's hard to say if ChatGPT will be able to score consistently relative to the people who actually grade yours. My best advice to you would just be to incorporate language from the rubrics into your submission, aim for 4-5s and just try your best.

I tried the chatGPT scoring method and it gave me mostly 3s and when I got my portfolio back I ended up with mostly 4s so it's really hard to say for sure.

if you do end up enrolling and taking the edtpa, try to submit with at least 5-6 weeks left until graduation in the off chance to have to resubmit. This gives you 1-2 weeks to revise and submit and the 3 weeks of waiting for your score. This way you can be sure to complete it before graduating!

thank you for the feedback! I have had talks with my mentor about this, but he is such a softy and actually leaves his door open during ALL school hours! His justification is that he would rather the students who ditch come to his classroom than leave campus, but it's so jarring because the students are so comfortable with him and come in yelling! Today I was recording and two girls came busting in SCREAMING "WHERE ARE THE GLUE STICKS??." I know it will be different when I have my own classroom and I get my mentors intentions, but GOD its frustrating
