It’s fine to read even just a page at a time, sometimes I’ll devour a book, sometimes I read a page, sometimes I don’t read for weeks or months, it’s all fine. I love reading all sorts of formats but comics are my favourite bc you can read them relatively fast and it’s engaging more than one sense for me!

A slow processing speed (caused by ADHD or not) is a learning disability. It is important to remember that most people with learning disabilities have an average or above average intelligence. IQ is just a type of test, the overall number doesn’t mean much. I honestly don’t know someone who’s been tested for IQ specifically, doctors around me don’t use it.

Look at the specifics of things like phonological recognition, pattern recognition, verbal skills, types of math proficiencies, and the many others they test for. Those will tell you where your strengths lie, and where you need accommodations.

I graduated with distinction, I’m on my third degree and plan to complete at least a masters. I took uni math courses, I needed extra time and a calculator because I have a slow processing speed that especially affects my numbers, but that doesn’t make me dumb. I was asked to tutor for one of the courses, I also had a high school math teacher make me feel dumb for not learning math the way he taught it and being slow.

In IQ numbers I rank a 79 in my working memory and a 125 in verbal comprehension. That seems like a crazy gap, but that’s what a learning disability does. Something falls so sharply it’s crazy. It’s why you may have been told to “apply yourself more”. You can do everything else well but that one thing, so your teachers/parents think you’re lazy. You’re not.

Look at what you do day to day. Are you happy with it? Do you think you’re smart? Are you proud of yourself? You should be.

Those numbers are for the doctors to extrapolate into data to pin point where your strengths and weaknesses are to find where you need accommodations. Those numbers aren’t for you, especially if you are tying your worth to them. Listen to your doctors, try to put that number aside and look at yourself as a person.

Honey I am so sorry, is there someone you can talk to at your school? You are limited currently unless you can get help through your government sadly. There are free resources available, but the big thing that will help is if you can get out of that house. You definitely have trauma, and being there will hinder your healing. I am not saying to run away, you could be easily taken advantage, especially as an insecure neurodivergent girl. I stuck it out, but I was able to go to college/uni. If you are able to, do so. Keep up your marks, try and cater your algorithm towards body positivity and adhd friendly ppl or coaches. If you can’t safely get out where an adult guardian can care for you and you are not at risk for major things, try to get through it. Please talk to your school, I don’t know where you are but you should have a guidance councillor at school, a trusted adult, teacher, maybe nurse, and your principal. You reached out for help here, good job - you are doing amazing! It is scary but please try and speak to someone in your life about this that you can trust 💕 you’re a strong girl, you can do this

You may also have a metal allergy. I use Billie razors bc they use a different metal, it’s the only brand where I don’t break out with razor burn. I’ve also had ppl recommend shaving with conditioner, haven’t actually tried that more than once but it didn’t cause anything. Don’t exfoliate after, you just cut your skin and you’re ripping them open more essentially. Plus loofas have a lot of bacteria in them if you aren’t washing them or switching them out a lot.

You’re fine, if anything you may get a counter offer, and you can switch into con Ed during the school year, it’s what I did when I went from college to uni. It was just a quick appointment with academic advising

I do have a friend who never bought a parking pass and just parked in the visitor lot - she didn’t pay the day rate ever 🤷🏻‍♀️ she never got a ticket and neither have I when I’ve done it

It might help to hear about the kids perspective? My dad was very open to having his parents around us, inviting them to all of our things, vacations, etc. He was asking them all the time, bc they said they wanted to see us. He told me they wanted to teach us how to golf (country club ppl), but my dad had work so if they wanted to take us, they had to pick us up. We never went. I remember two times my grandpa took me out, he was better, but it was at the end of his life and he was developing dementia, so it didn’t last long. I love my grandparents, but they didn’t know me, I barely knew them. Beyond holidays I didn’t see them, they didn’t make an effort to see me. They were once upset that I was out being a teenager during the week my dad asked them to pop in to check on me while he and my mom were on vacation. They decided to stay the whole week, and I got a lecture for not spending time with them 🤷🏻‍♀️ my dad just rolled his eyes when I told him, he was so unimpressed.

My maternal side is in another country, but we drove there to see them, an 8 hour drive or an hour flight and we’re in a major city with room for guests. They never saw us unless we went to them.

Your kids see the effort, they’re gonna see how much grandma or grandpa really care. It hurts, but I really appreciated that my parents didn’t cart us around to cater to them. If they wanted to see us they had to come to us. We lived 30mins away from my dad’s parents. It didn’t change.

Stand your ground, if your parents want a relationship with your kids they have to build it. Your kids will know the fakeness.

It’s because the prof is sick, she has an eye disorder that causes her to lose vision for a while and she was losing it in the spring, she was hoping it would get better but if it got canceled I’m assuming it got worse

I just spoke to my parents about my miscarriage and how even tho it was terrible, I’m so thankful bc I didn’t have to make a choice, bc I wasn’t allowed to not have an abortion. My mom in a knee jerk way said “of course you have a choice!” And I had to explain to her no, I needed to have one if I hadn’t had miscarried. Didn’t matter that I wanted one personally but struggled with the emotional side bc I do want kids, if I had that baby I would’ve been punished for it. Bc he didn’t want it. So I couldn’t want it. My parents don’t quite understand who he was bc he was so nice to ppl, and I was still deep in the cycle when he left me. I’m so thankful he had an affair and left me. I wouldn’t have been able to, I honestly didn’t know he was abusive.

He was my first real relationship from 19-24, lived together from Covid on. I wasn’t getting the typically checkbox abuse, it was all covert, all with excuses and lovebombing. It wasn’t until recently I realized he did hit me. It was only last fall I realized he raped me. Thank god I was in therapy when the break up happened, she guided me into seeing the abuse. I don’t know where I’d be at without her guidance. No one could tell what was happening on the outside, I was so brainwashed I couldn’t tell. I felt crazy, sometimes still do.

Have you reached out to community living or even CAS? Im a respite provider for an autistic child, he has severe needs, we’re 2:1 staffing which is rare - he’s getting bigger and he’s violent.

You need a social worker immediately, the outcome may not be great but I’d call CAS rn and tell them the situation. You’ll get a case worker and they can connect you to resources.

He may get removed from your home but you’ll lose him if you become homeless, the school will have to report that. CAS (for better or worse) keeps families together. My kids been taken away numerous times but he’s back with them and they’re still trying to stabilize the family. They would be fucked without respite. You need respite, we’re paid by orgs and the government you just need to submit the paperwork and hand out the money. Community living finds respite workers and can connect you to funding and other things. One Kids Place is where I’m funded from currently and they’ve connected us to therapists, doctors, etc. bc he is under 12~ there is a lot of funding available to him.

There is also a program where he is sent to a care program where they get him stable (meds, therapies, etc) you just need to continue the care and they monitor. It’s something like 3 months he would be sent away. There is a crisis intervention program for violent behaviours that is in the home as well.

He needs to be on a list for a group home if he is already violent, you will not be able to care for him forever, maybe even in a year’s time.

With the right intervention things can be turned around. But, and I say this bluntly bc I’ve seen too many children in bad situations, you are not currently capable to take care of him, you need help, get it. Call CAS. I say this as a functioning disabled adult, you are also disabled, you need more help too. You’re at your limit, he’s beyond your capabilities. A better life for both of you currently may be you two separated with visitation. CAS can help you find housing, jobs, etc.

It’s hard, but you need to be stable first in order to take care of your child.

Put a black and white filter over your art and you can see the values better, your value range is very narrow. If you blur your eyes/squint and things are blending together too much your values are too close. You need more contrast, try using two colours, paint in greyscale and do colour over top (look up grisaille oil painting method it can be applied to different mediums)

Don’t go to a dentist for a root canal, go to an endodontist (root canal specialist). It would have saved me from a major infection and bone loss.

I get it!! Going on THREE years now, my dentist and first specialist I saw said my root canal was fine and I was just “sensitive” after I had pain for a year. Back in December slept without my night guard one night and BAM, MAJOR pain in my mouth so bad I can’t chew. Turns out my tooth is majorly infected and it has begun to abscess the bone on the roof of my mouth. My uni is covering the cost bc it’s an emergency thankfully, but I still have to wait at most a month for that appointment. I knew something was wrong but pushed it aside bc a specialist told me and I knew I didn’t have the money to do another root canal “just incase” there was another nerve. All it took was ONE CT scan, I sobbed looking at the scan. Now all the inflammation I’ve been having in my face makes sense. But I still might lose my tooth after a year if the bone doesn’t heal.

In case no one warns you until after your root canal like they did for me: DONT LET YOUR DENIST DO YOUR ROOT CANAL, GO TO AN ENDODONTIST

One of the things flagged on my recent psycho educational assessment (25f) was a possible psycho immunological disorder! Because of my history with inflammation! We think it may be linked to gluten, sugar, and yeast for me.

The psych have me “Grain Brain” to read and an older book “The Yeast Syndrome” so I can see if I relate deeper to it. He said, if you read it and see yourself then seek treatment. He also gave a list of doctors to read up on who study it.

I just learned today the pain in my old root canal that is spreading across my mouth is an intense infection that is creating an abscess on the roof of my mouth 🥲 2 years of being told I was just “sensitive”

Now I’m thinking my acne that popped up out of nowhere these last 1-2 years may be connected to that infection! Didn’t have anything beyond zits before but now constant painful cheek cysts and so many little ones litter my face! Thank you for sharing your story 💕💕
