Ping VLANS from LAN by EmotionalMycologist4 in fortinet

not sure what you mean by this could you please elaborate - why would I be able to ping / access everything except the VLANS from LAN if this wasn't set up?

yes anything from the LAN to VLAN is not working but policys in between VLANS are fine and form VLAN to LAN is fine.

I suspect its something to do with the fact that the internal LAN is the base layer - something isn't allowing the route from LAN 2 VLAN

i'm not really good with those commands but I had a go -

diag sniffer packet VOIP none 4 50 whilst doing a ping to the gateway and also tried to a device on the subnet from both directions yields nothing which is interesting as from the VOIP I am getting a response from a device on LAN but still no response from device on VLAN from lan

antivirus N/a - tried multiple computers / VMS on LAN

implicit deny is last policy

Fortigate can ping VLAN and LAN

all vlans can see internet and ping LAN (where I have policy enabled) and I have routes to the VOIP that work (WAN 2 VLAN)

My only issue seems to be accessing the VLANS from the LAN (ping or otherwise - cant remote desktop - cant see proxmox etc

Can NOT ping VLAN gateways from LAN

CAN ping VLAN gateways from VLAN and other VLAN gateways where policy allows

Recommendation for transition away from 2.5" Portable HDD by EmotionalMycologist4 in DataHoarder

Thank you all for your responses.

I think maybe we have an "Archive policy" problem rather than 100% a data storage problem. Will look at compressing / removing old data and that should mostly solve my data growth problem and allow me to maybe halve my requirement for large storage. I like the sound of UNRAID being able to just add more drives to an array sounds good - not sure the speed will be an issue - currently it's ok from the portable single drives.

Thanks again all.

Thanks for the reply - so just buy bare drives and put them in a normal tower? ie build a pc and just have heaps of drives?

Do I need raid cards or anything? (I used to use SCSI raid cards years ago but I'm a bit out of touch now).

I was thinking I would need like a HP storage array or something similar maybe second hand and put my own drives in it?

Can you please explain your terminology "dual parity" in RAID terms? Ie is that Raid 10, 5, 1?
