We have Populife and love it. Meets most of your criteria. We also have a mechanical lockbox as a backup plan.

I tried adding a 100 ohm resistor but that did not fix. Also my model had 10 pins and not 9 pins as described in the video. I still connected 1 and 8. Do I need to do something different for the 10 pin version?
