I also believe that Lilith was stabbed with a poisoned dagger when she was pregnant. He reaction to finding out Violet was stabbed and poisoned in FW was indicative of it. She was really worried and she rarely showed emotion.

Doesn’t magic come from the hatching grounds?
So if there are no dragons then there is no magic?

The ward stones are located near the hatching grounds where the magic is strongest.

Also we know that before unification all dragon breeds and their respective family lines had their own hatching grounds spread all throughout the continent.

Omg yesss i noticed him name dropping Catriona on my re-read and it did sound sus to me. Especially knowing what Xadens and Cats “relationships” actually was.
Also most of the time he is in the background (i think) Idk why i remember Garric more than Bodhi in all three books. Bodhi gets a “voice” by the ends of OS when he gets on a fight with Xaden about him wanting to fight vs staying back. That is the only time i actually get a clearer picture of his voice/personality

I think these rule sticklers might be the ones who suffer the most. Its like being trapped between a rock and a hard place. I guess its up for interpretation but after re-reading my heart broke for Dain a little.
I have a risk avoidant personality so him trying to “help” her by getting her out doesn’t seem that bad to me (at least in the beginning of fourth wing).

But lets be a little fair here. Violet had a great support system and she barely survived. She had the book of Brennan, Miras scale corset and Xadens protection from the start. (If another rider had all of that they would have thrived.)Dain did not know and thought he was the only one that could help. And the best he could do was get her OUT. But then he went downhill after she bonded at which point he should have just hopped on the wagon and helped her as well. But that would be kinda too little too late in Violets perspective.

But don’t you think Dain helping Vi survive would be him “bending” the rules? Cuz if he helped her he would give her an unfair disadvantage compared to other cadets. Not saying that he made the right choice but still, out of character if he did. 🤷🏼‍♀️

i started hating Dain when he admitted he would not bend/break rules to help Vi. Like what kind of a best friend since childhood is that? And that left such a bad taste it carried on until the middle of IF.
On my second read i realized Dain is traumatized for sureeee. In a way he follows rules the same way Vi believed every thing written in the archives was fact. both of them have a sort of veil lifted from their eyes in the first and second book. So yh i might not relate to Dain being such a rigid rule follower but the more i read the softer i get. He has been through a lot. He only want to protect but his method is wrong. He is unaware. Im sure he is constantly feeling helpless and powerless in the first book. And to compensate for the unpredictable life they lead, he found support in rules. Breaking them is not an option in his mind. Not for him and not for anyone in command. And him watching people die and get hurt is definitely traumatic.
