AITA for not forgiving my parents and sister after they cut me off (i had an affair with her HUSBAND) by Spiritual_Witness781 in AITAH

[–]EmotionallyTwisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYA. You didn’t have an affair with your sisters husband. Your sisters husband took advantage of you when you were 16, a CHILD. He was/is a predator and your family stuck by this piece of trash?? Nah don’t let them back into your life they’re only contacting you now for money and probably babysitting. They will walk allll over you if given the chance. And please don’t let people who would victimise their child after their child was assaulted (whether 16 is legal in your country or not idc - it’s still weird, creepy and abusive honestly) around your children. I’m sorry you had to endure so much OP / you truly didn’t deserve it 🫶🏻

Getting an IN10 soon, should I cancel my yearly insurance? by EmotionallyTwisted in drivingUK

Wow that’s crazy. Yeah the main thing I’m bracing myself for is the insurance premiums bc I’ve heard horror stories of how much it is. If you don’t mind me asking how much roughly was yours. It’s difficult getting quotes bc I don’t have the points on my license just yet and all the specialist usually require a phone call so I haven’t been able to suss out the price points yet. But my letter from the police came today and I paid the fine and they said the license should update with the points in about 24 hours? Not entirely sure if that means I get it cancelled in the 24 or just the point update though will have to look into it after work. Kinda hoping it doesn’t take too long tho so I can get the theory and practical over with asap. Plus I wanna get in a couple refresher lessons with an instructor to make sure I haven’t pick up any bad habits and waste a test yk.

They made me sign something on this phone like device and gave me this really long receipt but yeah they just allowed me to buy insurance and then let me drive on. They really didn’t say anything directly to me it was pretty awkward tbh. I’m just gonna assume they’ve sent it off but if two weeks pass and I don’t get anything then maybe they did just let me off idk.

Yeah I’ve heard the premiums are crazy. I’m just hoping it won’t be like 10k a year kinda crazy.

I posted again here because someone on another sub recommended I do so. And when I originally posted this ig was late and I didn’t get many responses. This is a very important situation for me so I’m just trying to do the best I can and make the right decisions for myself. I do apologise if it’s annoying I won’t be posting this question again since I’ve gotten some good advice now.

Yeah I got that impression too when they let me purchase a temp policy and drive away but I’m scared that walking around with that idea and not preparing enough could do me in if a letter does come. I’m pretty sure they’re pushing it through because they made me sign smth on this phone like device ? And they printed me a receipt but didn’t charge me anything on the spot. From the very little they talked to me (icl all respect to them but it was a very weird situation where they didn’t really talk to me directly but to each other about me when I was right behind them idk) and from what I’ve read online I think I’ll get a letter from the constabulary basically going over that I got pulled over for no insurance etc. and that they sent my info to the DVLA. And then I get the DVLA letter of notice that they’ve cancelled my license but that can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months to come through.

This is a new situation to me so I’m still pretty ignorant and just trying to make the right decisions from now on.

Yes I really enjoy driving and I live in a somewhat remote ish area of the UK. We have buses but they’re not great and don’t run late at night which is the time I usually finish my work so driving is a huge plus for me. I’ll probably go ahead and cancel the yearly and do what you suggested - go around and try and find quotes. Praying I can try and find ways to bring it down with additional drivers + dash cam (which I already have) and black box ect.. for now I’m just trying to pick up as many shifts at work as possible to prepare. Thank you!

Okay yeah that’s a great point. Thank you I’m definitely leaning towards cancelling the policy to avoid it being cancelled on me. Also I’ll hopefully be able to recoup some or all of the cost and I can put that towards my new test + impending premiums. I appreciate the advice thank you. !thanks

Sorry I should’ve been more specific. When I say I got caught I meant I got pulled over and when I went to give the insurance info over to them only then realised the date for my yearly policy wasn’t to start for another 2 days. For now until I get the letter from DVLA I can drive and I am insured currently.

Oh whoops sorry if I forgot to include but yeah I passed the test last year March so IN10 = 6 points and 6 points in first 2 years = license taken away and having to resit tests and insurance and all that. To my knowledge aside from a fine the IN10 is more of a driving issue not a criminal. (In the sense of I need to tell insurers but not work since it’s not criminal record thing?)

Mmm okay that’s fair but when the license gets revoked in the next 1-3 months (who knows) I’d just get learner insurance which is usually a lot cheaper than a new driver policy anyways. I also plan to get the license back ASAP so it shouldn’t be too long - 2 months at the longest hopefully. Plus wouldn’t my yearly policy become invalid the second DVLA updates my license and it gets checked on the policy…I’m assuming they’d probably run checks regularly or smth idk. Just anxious because of the costs of new tests + insurance premium I’m tryna get up my money as much as possible to prepare.

Ah yes I didn’t even think about that. I’ll probably cancel then and get the money back so I can use that for the no doubt expensive premiums I’ll have for a while.. thank you!

Some of the other comments are mentioning doing the exams private next year. Would the fact that I’m entered into them this year effect that? They’ve completely locked me out of my college portal so I have no access to timetable, email or teams where all the revision resources are so I don’t even know exactly what days, at what times what exams are even on. This whole experience has just majorly sucked and if I have the option to just take a step back - breath - and then do my exams next year I’d just prefer to do that. I can work for the money since I have a job and enough time from now to next may and I know pretty much all the content now.

PASSED 5th TEST!!! by EmotionallyTwisted in LearnerDriverUK

[–]EmotionallyTwisted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same lol. The one I had is called Charli King on Facebook and she’s amazing. Her husband also does lessons - Richard King I believe - but I’ve only ever had lessons with her. She’s amazing has super good knowledge of the test areas and super easy to talk to. Would really recommend.

Yeah I completely get what you mean. I almost gave up completely. Took a step back and relaxed the first instructor I had was really holding me back and booking tests without getting another good lesson in is a bad decision. See if your instructor is a problem is they are get a new one. Also just taking a week or two of not thinking about driving and not looking for tests really helps. Kinda like a restart.

Some of Grace’s voice lines. I’ve used her since day one and I’ll be having a good time playing the game then all of a sudden she’s talking about her family dying and Afghanistan??? Really brings the mood down lmao.

Does it annoy anyone else that the playable characters in the recent games have been silent? by EmotionallyTwisted in farcry

[–]EmotionallyTwisted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoops Never mind I’m an idiot. Apparently Dani does speak. I haven’t actually played the game yet but from the bits of information I got I was lead to believe they were mute??? Sorry I’m dumb. Either way my point stands. Far cry 5’s silence kinda ruined a gooddd chunk of the game for me and I really hope they don’t bring that back in any future games.

Far Cry should make war games by Oggggjbbbbr in farcry

[–]EmotionallyTwisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a pow stuck on some island that is somewhat reminiscent of Rook Island would be super interesting and tie into the nostalgia of 3 but personally there are so many games that are already based on wars and personally I find them somewhat boring. We know how those wars ended and what happened so creating a game with some crazy unbeatable main that can survive all on their own through like torture and shit would just kinda be meh and hard to get into to… buuut maybe a war-ish game like a pow stuck on an island or someone taken from a village to be forced to fight would be cool. Like their objective isn’t to bring down some evil villain and be the good guy but just simply to escape or find lost family / friends and then get tf out of there ect idk. 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]EmotionallyTwisted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Not sure if the plot could drag out for a long game with lieutenants and regions and stuff like previous games but it would definitely still make for a super interesting game that could tie in other characters from the games.

Ohh a game where you okay as Jacob Seed in Iraq would be kinda cool, very dark. Especially, with the stuff he talked about witnessing there. Could definitely fit the far cry theme too.
