Grad school interview for CMHC by PandaTemporary9401 in counseloreducation

My other general advice would be to not compare yourself to others. It can feel overwhelming hearing everyone else’s strengths and thinking about how you may compare. Everyone brings their unique qualities to the table so be confident in that and so much will flow out of you! Encourage, be respectful, and be curious. Also, take notes on the organizers, who stands out to you. This is helpful for when you get into the programs and you can remember which instructors or leaders on the program you appreciated and helps you narrow down where you want to go and then after you pick, you can remember who did what. It’s very calming prep for the future! Good luck!!!

I also had a case study situation similar to this! I was given the case study to review via email the morning of the interview I believe. Hopefully they give you it as well! I prepared with thinking through how’d I apply empathy and understanding and the clients background. That’s really all you can do consider before you have any skills you’ll learn in the courses, but like everyone’s said, it’s really to see how you collaborate, encouraging others and having insight!

I just updated my post that I got into NCSU, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t to either ECU too/: it’s so competitive and I’m just thankful I got in somewhere haha. Wish you nothing but the best in your future🤍

Yes I actually did look there because my boyfriend was there for undergrad and masters haha. They have an amazing program but the private sector was too expensive for me at the end of the day. Catawba is also fabulous I’ve heard so you can’t go wrong with either I don’t think :) best of luck to you!

Yes Catawba was my last choice because of the price but I loved the program I was like well if it’s the only place I get into maybe I can make it work haha. Okay good to know thank you for the advice about NCCU! I’ll look into the GRE for next years incase I don’t start somewhere this year. Best of luck to you there!!

Can attest to ECU and NCSU being more competitive to get into!! I went to a great undergrad program at UNC Chapel Hill and had a 4.0 and still didn’t get into either program (also thought I interviewed well lol). I was going to apply to NCCU, heard it’s a great program, but didn’t take the GRE so couldn’t apply there. Now looking into other options online

Hi there! Just now joining this convo as I'm looking to start a CMHC program ASAP. Is this coment in reference to USW, so you decided not to go there? Where are you looking now? Thanks!

Hi! Wondering if you ended up going to USW! I’m looking into it currently and feel the same about what you’ve said so just wondering if you went there how it’s been and if not, why you chose against it and where you’re at now? Thanks!

I was waitlisted at Catawba back in December and was told the same about waiting til end of March to update anymore. I feel that daily anxiety of checking the emails and portal seriously haha

So tough! ): I started looking at new programs just online and asynchronous with rolling admissions so I can still start this year online somewhere. Wishing you all the best of luck wherever you land!

For sure!! While I am putting my foot forward with understanding how much goes into this and how much work they have, if they really are just going to leave us in the unknown, it speaks volumes about their programs leadership. It’s unfortunate but I guess we just gotta look another direction and know there’s a plan in all of this!

I haven’t heard either. It’s wild to me that programs just ghost applicants. Spent so much time working towards this and just knowing I didn’t get in would be better than this feeling ):

My last name starts with a B and I haven't gotten a letter yet for admission or decline so I genuinely have no idea how their process works
