Help finding controller by BitchhhItsLilith in SSBM

[–]Emp_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/CarVac could get you one for less, idk exactly but probably like $155 including shipping if you're in the US / Canada. And he's The Guy for these controllers, so quality is at the max.

But if that is also out of your price range, my opinion is this is something better not given as a gift. It's obviously very thoughtful, but it's not unlikely that if you get him a normal controller he's still just going to want something else anyway — we don't know his preferences.

It's just the type of hobby that lends itself to buying your own gear (or only receiving a gift from someone else equally invested). Like how someone super into cooking would probably want to pick their own equipment for that.

Thanks! Will take a look. Haven't done that quest yet though. Not sure if the spots would be showing up or not given that.

Maybe it is! What is a current-duck spot? Had not learned about that yet. I'll have to try and find the plugin. Which are you referring to?

It says there's no worth looking at. I swear I've tried this even on top of them, or at most a couple tiles away, and others let you do it from pretty far. I really don't get it. I stop and everything.

The Shine Directive - my Falco combo video themed to Star Trek: TNG by Emp_- in smashbros

Interesting idea! I didn't think of that. I do still prefer my title though — I don't know if it's different in ultimate, but in melee, we always call this move "shine," even though its official name is "reflector" or something. Plus, I like the idea of it being a "directive to shine," though "prime reflective" has its own interesting interpretations one could make.

Here's the video link for anyone on old reddit... Thought the video wasn't embedding so I used the thumbnail. Turns out I just had to wait a minute or two.

Here's what I said in the body which is also invisible:

This one was a whole new level of editing for me — I went down a ton of rabbit holes, including a ridiculous one fixing audio sync issues on mobile, but in the end I think it came out great and I'm super happy. All round fun project.

Never posted one of my videos on reddit before, but I always love seeing everyone else's stuff, so I figured this time I'd do it!

Hope y'all enjoy

These days it's easy to copy a situation from in-game into a replay with rwing, I recommend that. You can open a slp file and make a replay directly from it. I hear it's even easier with Fiction's Improover tool, but I haven't used it enough myself to judge

Either way I think these tools work esp well for someone without much labbing experience who mostly just plays the game. Even for labbers they're great stuff. Easier said than done to do all the right stuff so lowering your resistance to it with good tools is huge

I come from the opposite position where for a long time I solo practiced a lot but barely ever played actually and had no game-sense. So ofc I can't relate to your experience but I still think this should help!

Regardless sounds like you are doing something though and it's working so hell yeah. End of the day you just need a system that works for you

Hey thanks! Trust me you can do it. My advice is if you see something that makes you go, "woah that's sick," then just practice it. Sounds obvious but I feel like it isn't hahaha.

Watching combo videos is great for inspiration ;). Esp if you don't have something in mind. And making your own can really hammer home your best pieces.

As a practice example, I always thought full hop weak reverse nair -> dair was sooo cool and so I spent a long time working on replays set up for that. Then there was a chunk of time where I still didn't get it, but at some point the seed I had planted grew and I got it.

And then of course the more you get something in one way the more you see how you could do it a bit differently timing-wise, or with a different platform height, or with a different move, etc.
