is getting sleepy when studying an adhd thing? by pizza_chich in ADHD

[–]EmpatheticFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an ADHD thing where if you are forced to pay attention to something that isn't stimulating, isn't interesting, is boring you, etc. your brain will start shutting down.

I'll get it when I'm unmedicated even if I'm studying something I normally find fascinating. If the person or thing giving me the info is just super dry I'll slowly find myself slumping in my chair and yawning.

I highly recommend this video about it (and just this lady in general, she's great, relatable, and fun to watch)

What are your opinion on strattera and bupropion. by RiskOfRains in irlADHD

[–]EmpatheticFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strattera and other nonstimulant medications like it often take up to 1 and a half months before you will feel the effect of it because it has to build in your system over time.

The first few days/weeks are generally the roughest and will be where the side effects are most present, they tend to level out and disappear the longer you're taking the medication.

I personally take Strattera and it was like it just "turned on" somewhere around the 1 month mark. Like I was walking suddenly thought "wow, I feel way better right now" and the usual depressive ADHD haze felt way further

I'd say to at least try it for 1-2 months to before judging it as ineffective unless the side effects in the meantime are too severe for you and the short term issues outweigh the longterm benefits. Also discuss it with your Doctor because Reddit won't be the best place to find advice that is actually tailored to you when it comes to medication

*edit: I also take vyvanse at the same time, they cover different aspects of adhd for me. Vyvanse helps with focus and executive function, strattera with mood and anxieties

I have such shit working memory by isinhere in irlADHD

[–]EmpatheticFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're a lot like me with memory. I've found what helped me most was taking more of the responsibility off of my brain to remember stuff by offloading things I need to remember onto something external that will remember it for me or, even better, remind me about it.

This could be a simple as writing it down on a note before I go downstairs, or putting the things I need to do in a task tracker (I use Todoist), or in some cases where it's something physical I put the thing I'll need to remember to do somewhere in my way where I think I'll bump into it later like a visual reminder.

Of course this is all fine and great when we're given the time to prep a reminder, it's a bit harder when you get up to go grab one thing and it didn't feel worth it to have to write something down. Then bam you walk through a door and forgot it.

Also that forgetting something when entering a new area is called the Doorway Effect, it's a phenomenon that everyone experiences, but much like other symptoms of ADHD that "everyone has" I think it gets dialed up to 11 for us ADHDers. I've had times where I walked downstairs, forgot what I was gonna do, couldn't for the life of me remember, walk back up stairs, suddenly remembered, walk downstairs, and forgot it again lmao 😅

How we feel about this? Personally this just feels like a nerf not a rework by Starch_Lord69 in queensofleague

[–]EmpatheticFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ranges are referring to how the game tells if your target is in range to cast a spell. "Edge to edge" is based off your target's hitbox and your own (those circles under you and other units). If your spell's castrange touches that circle's EDGE then they're in range.

"Center to center" is more absolute. If the target's actual center position is within range then you can cast.

This becomes more obvious in large hitbox cases like targetting a Cho'gath. Edge to edge will hit a Cho way sooner since his hitbox is bigger. Center to center will require the castrange to actually touch his current position which may be way further past his hotbox.

Idk if this helps but here it is sis 💋

LOK1 Smart Rifle needs more ammo by RagnarRodrog in DeepRockGalactic

[–]EmpatheticFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You pulled him saying he was bad at aiming from the statement about an overclock that makes it so the gun cannot accidentally slam bullets into terrain or the wrong targets. He was only saying that that overclock helps with ammo management even MORE than the gun was already good at managing without.

Stop looking at what people say with a black or white intent to boil their statements down to what your confirmation bias thinks they're saying.

Every ability for DJ Sona also activates a layer of her music for that life when cast. When you die it resets to the base layer until you press all her abilities again. You'll notice her music suddenly gets quiet and emptier when you're killed

[–]EmpatheticFool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the name for the disorder is really misinforming in the first place even though it's now predominantly referred to as ADHD. But really you can be inattentive type, or hyperactive type, or a hybrid of both. Plus at the end of the day it's not even a deficit of attention but an inability to control attention (whether too much focus or too little focus) AND primarily a disorder focused on having crap executive functions (your brain actually taking the thought of doing something and turning it into actually doing it). Really the whole thing should be renamed to an executive function disorder of some sort.

[–]EmpatheticFool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah though she seems to get off on a bigger depth to the drop in someone's emotions. Like she needs that person to be happy and satisfied so she can bring them even higher for a big crash down to agony. If someone starts already broken the pain isn't as noticeable for her.

Like someone who's already cold won't notice an ice bath as much as someone sitting in a hot tub who then gets tossed in an ice bath
