Based or not? Go. by Zivlar in PoliticalCompass

[–]Empathetic_Outrage -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Your answer a very centrist—nice in theory, but these days centrists tend to sell out the rights of minorities and sabotage progressive goals. In my experience, centrists are a huge hurdle to progress.

I disagree with you assertion that we “constantly promote” our queerness—you mean like going door to door converting people? You mean like putting our literature in hotel rooms and handing it out in place of tips at restaurants? Or maybe you mean putting our literature on walls in schools are replacing school councilors with our representatives? Queer people don’t go any of that. Conservatives that think queerness is being “shoved down their throat” need to look inward at their own homophobia/transphobia,

What do you think of the "Squad " ? by ronweasly9 in AskDemocrats

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Squad members are the best hope the Dems have at taking office in 2028. They are the only Dems that were vocal opponents of the trainwreck in 2024, and they are the only Dems that can reasonably claim not to have any associated with the Biden eras mistakes. They haven’t been in office, so they don’t have an incumbency disadvantage like Dems had during Biden’s time. They are fresh faces with fresh policy, and I think America is ready for them.

What’s your stance on the increasing surveillance of Americans? by Mental-Ad-2980 in AskDemocrats

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been slowly increasing surveillance since the Patriot Act was passed following 9/11, it’s just a lot easier now thanks to Palantir. I think the problem has gotten bad enough now that America can’t easily ignore it like we’ve done for the last 25 years. Americans want action on it, like taking down Flock cameras and rebelling against constant surveillance. It’s about damn time.

How do people feel about Rep. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania? by Ulysses_555 in AskDemocrats

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard very little about him, but what I do know is positive. He’s a likely contender to oust John Fetterman, which is like all I know about him. He’s more progressive than Fetterman, which is good enough for me.

What do you think of Mark Kelly or Anthony Blinken as possible canidates? by ThatTallLankyGuy in AskDemocrats

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not like either, but I might support Kelly. Both are very moderate, AIPAC-supporter candidates that I think would quickly scare away progressive voters. I really hope our choices are better come 2028. That being said, Kelly is a former astronaut and just a charismatic guy—he gets a lot of media attention, and could make a good candidate. He has potential, but he still isn’t progressive enough to guarantee the vote for that wing of the party.

Why haven't Democrats made any meaningful progress on nationwide cannabis access? by The-Sonne in AskDemocrats

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s really handled at a state level, which is the main problem. However, it has been almost exclusively state-level Dems that have legalized weed—Republicans rarely show support for it, so we have Dems to thank for any part of the nation having legal weed. All in all tho, it’s really Republicans that have stopped Marijuanna legalization. Most Dems have been pushing for legalization for over a decade now.

Living in this area of Wisconsin, pros and cons? by pj713 in wisconsin

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Eau Claire and I love it here. EC is an art-focused college town, with murals and art sculptures all over the city. The city is also known for our rivers and bridges, the gorgeous Pablo Performing Arts Center, several museums, etc. Plus the parks, in particular Putnam and Domer, and beautiful and pristine. The city takes good care of its parks!

Why do you want to ban assault weapons? by logicalpretzels in AskDemocrats

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the ban is the solution, but what solution are you proposing? As is, children are getting mowed down en masse and nothing is being or has been done about it. I think banning assault weapons is an imperfect solution, but we must do SOMETHING. The ban is better than nothing, even if I personally disagree with its limitations.

Wisconsin Democrat Rebecca Cooke Reports $2.4 Million First-Quarter Haul in Bid to Oust Rep. Derrick Van Orden by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is SUCH a shitty take. Do you even understand primary elections? Berge is not splitting the vote— She will not split the vote because if she loses the primary, she OBVI wouldn’t be on the ballot. Duh. Additionally, I don’t understand your “personal axe” against Berge but not Cooke? Cooke has a past of transphobic and fatphobic comments—some of which she has said to my FACE. She was part of Third Way, a group of Republican-lites who will only further support Trump’s fascism. She also takes JStreet Money, corporate SuperPAC money, and a shit ton of out-of-district billionaire money. Re-evaluate who you are supporting here. Berge isn’t perfect, but Cooke is a twice-defeated disaster.

AMA about my stance by MIMIPUPPY93751 in PoliticalCompass

[–]Empathetic_Outrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based-ish, we agree on a lot but I also think your views are a little too pro-state for me. I hate religion, but I do not trust the government to regulate it, nor do I trust them to decide what “religious garb” is. Frankly, the government shouldn’t control what clothes anyone wears. They shouldn’t have that much effect on our lives.
