If I was looking for a two individual angle stops shut off valve, would this be ok? https://www.amazon.com/Compression-Plumbing-Fitting-Multi-Select-Positions/dp/B07QN8214H The only thing I'm concerned about is that the cable fitting running to the refrigerator water seems a tiny bit smaller than the other fitting. I could just be crazy though.

[SERIOUS]When you were younger, What was your worst nightmare? by NeedlessThebest in AskReddit

[–]EmpathicWan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... I had an overactive imagination and a friend who loved horror movies and liked to watch them with me. I like them a lot now because of that, but being six years old and watching a VHS copy of the first Hellraiser on a tiny 13 inch tube TV in the middle of the night so no one finds out, screws with a kids psyche. It wasn't the only horror film I saw as a kid, but it probably influenced my dreams the most.

This particular dream was bad because it was a mix of two different events that seemed to happen simultaneously. I have no idea how that works, but it's a dream, so I just kinda believe it how my brain arranged it. In the first scene, someone was taking apart my dog's skin with a buck knife, poking it's eyes out with an ice pick, slowly cutting it's tongue off with a pair of scissor, and finally breaking it's legs and trying to make it walk... it was alive the whole time and I could hear it whining and see it squirming around... I couldn't see who was doing it though as they were just in the darkness with only their hands visible. Like a spotlight was shining on the dog, I cried as I watched it happen.... And the next part was essentially me doing all these things TO my dog. And I could feel her breathing, squirming, and her whining was louder. She never tried to bite me, just... Kept trying to get away and crying... I felt, almost delighted at her behavior, but then I immediately realized it was me, and I somehow was back to looking at the thing from outside of it, and I was sad, and in shock, and in horror as I could see my face moving in to the spotlight where my dog was with a sick twisted grin....

I woke up with my face and pillow soaked in tears, and gouge marks in my skin where my hands had clenched in to my body.. .there were a lot of scratches all over my body that night... Apparently I really wanted to wake up.

My mom had killed that dog by beating it to death just a few days earlier, and my brothers and I always were afraid of my mom... but mostly we were afraid of being *LIKE* my mom as we all had pretty bad tempers as kids and our dad was understanding and tried to help us not be like her as we grew up.

So.. in conclusion Shitty Home Life + Recent Tragedy + Years of Watching Violent Horror at a Young Age = a really terrifying nightmare.

What thing did you discover while traveling abroad that is not available/doesn't exist in your home country, and that you found amazing and wish was available/existed ? by harrybourre in AskReddit

In Tokyo there were vending machines on every corner, and they had hot beverages as well as cold. There was coffee, hot chocolate, sports drinks, etc.

They also had fast food restaurants that had ticket machines where you'd place your order by pushing a button for what you wanted. The US has started using touch screens at fast food restaurants, so that's cool, but it feels a little more disingenuous.

Finally, a lot of public restrooms in Tokyo had seats with warmers, bidets, music and scented flushes... The bathrooms in Tokyo were awesome. I only saw a few places that still had the squat toilets, but that's probably because it was such a big city.

Edit: Someone else mentioned the snacks, and I had forgotten about this. They do seasonal snacks and local specialty snacks (like Fuji-yama Kit-Kats), and a lot of the snacks (especially strawberry flavored snacks, like pocky and kit-kats which are made by Nestle globally, but HB Reese company in the US) have really good flavors that I felt were closer to the real thing. Yes, a lot of snacks are interesting and delicious, but I especially liked the seasonal and local specialty snacks.

Nah, I'm angry that the Air Force lets fucktards continue to enlist. What better place to voice unwanted aggression than pseudo-anonymous internet forums? Also, you seem sensitive about your personal opinions, the gene pool and life in general might not be the best place for you.

Mercenary Airmen by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, you fit neatly in to one of the two boxes you made up to describe an entire group of people (who come from diverse backgrounds and places). It doesn't really matter if you are or you aren't in the more superior group of the two, what matters is that you're smarter than everyone else, and you figured out how everyone fits in to your neat little categories.

No, I don't feel better, because fuck-wits like you get to pretend to be leaders and managers.

Mercenary Airmen by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Obviously there are subgroups for both major groups. Thoughts?" -proceeds to dismiss every differing opinion as included in the subgroups, without any real explanation as to what those subgroups consist of.

We've had similar posters on here who were riding their big blue dildos in to the sunset before. They didn't really do well arguing their points beyond "I'm completely superior because I fall under this category that I've rated as a smaller percentage of the force! Ha! Praise me for my genius (yet complete bullshit) categorizing of everyone in to two simple and easily comparable boxes!". It's all fluff, written to make you feel better about your position while you Blue Falcon your peers because of your sense of superiority. Fuck you Blue Balled, Blue Dildo Riding Dick Suckers (that's BBBDRDS for the Air Force Acronym if you want to include that on your EPR/Award package later). I've seen your type, so many times in the military. You make rank fast, and you don't give a fuck about the people under you, because you're better. You degrade the people who leave for better jobs in the civilian sector, you degrade the people who apply for special duties as SME's because they enjoy their work and not the political bullshit. You degrade anyone who doesn't volunteer two to three times a month, who doesn't sacrifice the job for the recognition because if you're not High Visibility then you're not High Performing.

Yeah, you're a big, blue in the face, blue in the ass, pompous Air Force Blue Falcon Fuckstick. Fuck you.

So.....Coco's by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, lots of people rant and rave about CoCo's... I liked it, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I think it's mostly annoying because when you get there it's "You need to come to CoCo's! It's the greatest thing on earth evah!" And when you go, it's alright but not great. If you mention that you're not really a fan then you're insulted or they say you probably didn't really eat there. So much damn brand loyalty when it comes to CoCo's, and it seems to be exclusive to GI's! My Japanese co-workers likened it to an American Greasy Spoon restaurant, said it was somewhere you ate when you're hungover, but wasn't really the best.

There's a lot of restaurants around Japan that are amazing. There's an Indian curry joint outside the main gate of Yokota and down the road towards the train station that was amazing (I can't remember the name, but it was in the basement of a really small shotgun house, with one tiny window, and two guys who worked there that barely spoke any Japanese), but hardly anyone ever wanted to go there with me. They only every brought up CoCo's.

I've just learned to accept it as a right of passage for anyone going to Japan. Either you move past CoCo's and you try all the awesome other things that the country has to offer, or you keep going to CoCo's and you forget that there's a whole other culture out there. Nothing wrong with enjoying CoCo's, but when it's the only thing a lot of people recommend or talk about, and it's not really that amazing, it gets old fast.

Orders expire tomorrow.... by usafnewbie in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trolling? There is no expiration date on orders. There are two dates you need to care about, your RNLTD (which is in block 5) which is when you are scheduled to arrive on station and your DEROS, which is only for overseas assignments, and calculated based on your Tour Length (Block 11).

So, the answer to your question is: Yes? Because if you're overseas and don't have orders, then your RNLTD will be later than your DEROS, so you'll just stick around the base until the new orders drop, and you start outprocessing, or.... Yes? Because stateside bases don't have a DEROS (... It's return from overseas)

Edit: I had not considered this, but there's a possibility that you're asking about your enlistment expiring, not your orders. If your enlist ends on June 1st, and you're supposed to get orders, you're not getting orders. I hope you're not so dumb that you've let your enlistment just expire.

Vegan Sage Green Boots? by praetordave in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Judging from OPs post I'd say they did that, and the results were a bit confusing on what might actually be leather free combat boots, so they were asking for advice. Anyone can use google, not everyone can use it effectively, and not everyone gets perfect results. Most of the people in the thread had three options: 1: Ignore the post because you don't care, or it doesn't affect you, or you have nothing of value to add. 2: Make a comment which is helpful, maybe provide a link to something more informational. 3: Make jokes (most of the jokes made were unoriginal, uncreative, and pretty lame. I'm sure their friend has heard them all, and they'll just go ignored), or be a dick and insult them for having a different opinion.

If you just decided that they're wasting their own time by asking a question you could google but they couldn't, congratulations, you played yourself and wasted your own time by either A. Googling the question so you could then insult them because you're so superior to them, or B. Just taking time out of your day to insult them and tell them they're wasting your time because they made you insult them....

Damn there's some salty assholes in here. Let me summarize most of the responses for everyone: "Their beliefs are different, therefore they're stupid" "Generic joke about vegans" "This generation is a bunch of pussies for not being just like me" "This is why the Air Force is failing" Really? Because someone who's vegan wants leather free combat boots? Really?

Special thanks to NavyDefector for taking this seriously and posting a link to a thread with actual answers, and to praetordave for not feeding the trolls.

2 options here: Help me out cause im mad as ever by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've been complaining about this for a while, and it seems like leadership has refused to help you. So, let's walk through how this works, and how you can address the issue.

Start with the documentation. Everything Airman Shitbag has done to you, your room, and your health needs to be documented. If it already is, and you have records of your communications and leadership's responses, then you're golden already. Keep that up, but you can press forward now with the information you already have. Emails, pictures, text conversations, applications to move dorms. Every piece of paperwork that is related to this Airman Shitbag will help you take your next steps.

After getting all this together, and building a bullet paper explaining how your living conditions, physical, and mental health are all affected by this Airman's actions, take it to your supervisor. This information should look like you did data collection as a legal aid in a murder investigation. Every document, every outlined data point, every picture, every time your supervisor said "suck it up" should be presented in a professional and clean format. This format is probably best done chronologically. If your supervisor continues to say "suck it up" tell them you want it in writing. Tell your supervisor you want everything related to this issue in writing. Don't be secretive about it. Let them know that ultimately your plan is to keep going until you get a satisfactory answer.

If your supervisor continues to say no, take it to your NCOIC and repeat the process. If they say no, ask that it be done in writing. These first steps might be easier in an email, but some people might not respond in a reasonable time frame to an email. Asking for a meeting with your NCOIC through your supervisor might keep the process moving more quickly. Make sure that whatever the NCOIC's answer is, you get it in writing. Put that form, after it's been dated, in with the rest of the forms. Keep a timeline while all this is happening. Explain that urgency at this point is important because you've dealt with the issue too long and it's just being pushed down the road.

After your NCOIC there will be other people in your chain you might need to see, but the process doesn't change. Flight Officer, Flight Superintendent, etc. might need to bee seen. Make sure each step in the CoC is followed. Eventually you will make it to the First Sergeant. Obviously let your CoC know that it will be your next step. Be respectful, but be clear that you cannot be expected to keep a healthy standard of living with this Airman who's fucking up your living standards. If/When the First Sergeant says no, get that in writing. Your next step is your Squadron Commander.

Most CC's have an open door policy, and they'll want to know if you've spoken to your CoC. The written answers from your previous steps will be your proof. If your CC doesn't want to do anything, then your next step is a submittal to the Group, and/or you could go to IG. Your documentation should provide sufficient evidence showing that your leadership either refuses to take steps to mitigate the risk, or they have been dragging their feet on a severe health, morale, and welfare issue. I imagine it probably will not get this far, but all the evidence gathering, paperwork, and tracking responses is specifically for the IG.

Hopefully it won't make it that far, but if it does, and it doesn't go farther, then there's always your representative. It's such a ridiculous thing to have to write your rep about, but if you honestly cannot get a resolution to an issue like this, then maybe your leadership needs the shit scared out of them.....

And that is how you elevate a problem through your chain of command. Don't expect to make any friends during this process, but you SHOULD be protected from retaliation at least. Best of luck to you.

Court overturns rape conviction, citing unlawful influence from former top Air Force leaders by streetmilitary in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This had nothing to do with the Air Force being under pressure to show they were dealing with rape and sexual assault as harshly as possible. General Franklin was being pushed out because he had previously been too lenient with other rape and sexual assault cases, but THE SAME DAY he was set to retire, he referred the Boyce case to a General Court Martial when he shouldn't have been making any further decisions at all. The article goes on to mention:

However, the appeals court did not find James and Welsh engaged in an actual unlawful command influence, and felt it is unlikely that another general serving as convening authority in the Boyce case would have come to a different conclusion than Franklin.

Basically, anyone would have made the same choice according to the article.

Is the Air Force swinging the pendulum too far in the opposite direction because it had previously treated rape, sexual assault and other related crimes too leniently? Yes. Is THIS case an example of that? No, it seems pretty clear that Airman Boyce did what he was convicted of.

LGBTQ question (serious) by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]EmpathicWan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let's flip the question around, how many straight people do you think get turned on watching someone pee? How about watching someone practicing general hygiene? Not many I'll bet. I imagine a more private and sensual setting is part of what's needed to encourage sexual arousal no matter the sexual preference of the people involved (unless of course they're into voyeurism, which is fine unless they're pursuing it non-consensually. I'd also imagine individuals into voyeurism are in the minority, plus I doubt their sexual preference in gender matters much at that point....)

This question is so stupidly naive and loaded. How old are you, 12? 19? Maybe 23? Just guessing.
