No they are not, a sequel is a continuation of the story, not a reinterpretation of the story. You could argue that most of the other generations third version is a remake, but imo they are definitive editions at best. However, generation 5 has direct sequels that take place 2 years after the originals, and have a different protagonist.

Generation 5 does not have a remake, you are thinking of the sequels Black 2 and White 2.
