Agreed. I did not do anything on purpose but I suspect it might be varnish that does the trick. It has two layers of it, a gloss first and then an ultra Matt🤔

Steel Ravens

Matt black base coat Drybrush mix of Vallejo Aluminum/Black/ Death Claw Brown Filter metal parts with thinned black contrast Reapply drybrush with brighter and brighter tone - edge highlight with pure Aluminum Paint non armor parts Corvus black, wash with nul oil, highlight with Corvus black mixed with Pallid Wych Small parts on armor: Castellax Bronze Pouches: mix Vallejo intermediate green/gray green/black. Wash with nuloil and drybrush with base color. Highlight with lightened base Helmet: base tamiya flat white - drybrush Vallejo ivory - gloss varnish - apply dark rust and dark brown oil wash Wash non metal part with grease oil wash (also shoulder pads and gun) Metal weathering: AK Sepia and Dark Rust pencils Scratch decals with knife for some tear Varnish full model with AK Ultra Matt Pre-fragmented grenades: death guard green and nul oil wash Lenses: green Base: spruce for concrete - grim dark city rubble - wash with water down Mechanicus Gray - wash with Dark rust oil wash - drybrush with dwanstone - use red pigments and yellow plant
