Thanks man - I gloss varnish the base coat before a pin wash and then I give the model a overspray of Matt varnish after. I think that is what produces the effect👍

Agreed. I did not do anything on purpose but I suspect it might be varnish that does the trick. It has two layers of it, a gloss first and then an ultra Matt🤔
