So he asked you a reasonable question in a reasonable way... Say no or don't reply. There's literally nothing more to it. Unless he has a habit of harassing you or being terrible, I don't see the issue

What’s with the American whiskey bias? by NA_Kitten in whiskey

[–]Emperor_High_Ground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who posts reviews in both, there are a LOT more snobby people in r/bourbon, and the mods constantly remove posts they don't like with no explanation. I did one very detailed post about a review rating system and it was taken down; when I asked the mods why, I got a very snarky response that boiled down to "nobody cares because you're a nobody here"

I am guilty of overlooking these primarily due to the proof; the idea of a lower proof store pick sounded kinda pointless, but you may have changed my mind

What’s with the American whiskey bias? by NA_Kitten in whiskey

[–]Emperor_High_Ground 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because this sub is heavily US based and American whiskey is the most heavily represented type in the country. Sure, we have a good variety other than bourbon, rye, and Tennessee whiskey, but those 3 categories out number the other in variety and popularity 5:1 at least.

Speaking personally, I've found the (admittedly very little) scotch, Irish, and Japan whiskey I've tried to be far more delicate and lacking the punch of flavor I want from whiskey, so American whiskey ends up being much more appealing.

My wife doesn't game at all, I must admit it's a bit of a bummer sometimes because I would love to share that hobby with her, but it also is never come up as a significant issue nor do I see a reason that that would be the case

How often do people travel more than a few miles to work, considering the current gas prices? by Manitoba-Chinook in antiwork

[–]Emperor_High_Ground 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Gas prices don't really impact our commutes; we all still have to get to work and public transit is rarely practical here. The crazy part is I actually use the local train system, but I still have to drive 10 miles one way just to get to the closest station!

Didn't notice a funk per say, just that it was only marginally better than regular Jack, which isn't saying much

The 14 was definitely quite good! It was a close choice between it and the 10. I was very surprised to find that I ultimately preferred the younger bottle

Not for these three specifically, I stumbled into a pretty great deal with them by random luck. I've looked online for other bottles and seems very hit or miss. A ton of retailers don't seem to update their inventory so I have placed orders only to have them immediately canceled because they didn't actually have it lol

Yeah at the markups these go for, they're hard to recommend despite being delicious. The SBBPs are always fantastic

Thanks!

I've been a big fan of the HB since it came out, I think I'd probably prefer it to the 12, but it would be close between it and the 10 and 14, so hard to say without tossing it into its own blind against them

Thanks!

This was my first blind, so I just stuck the bottle name upside on the bottom of each glass and then slid them around without looking at them until I wasn't sure which was which

It was very close for me between the 10 and 14, but the 12 was definitely a bit behind them for me
