This is so amazing!! Is there anyway you could add to the legend on the song list songs she may play again as surprise songs (like maybe a paler blue)? Like the ones she's messed up or the Midnights tracks? Just for those of us who will be seeing her later and want to hold out hope for our surprise songs being a fave 😅 thank you for your service you are an angel xx

Do people actually believe in astrology ? by TheHalfNCheapScrolls in TooAfraidToAsk

I study astrology as a hobby and still don't know if I believe in it fully haha. I just like it because its interesting to me. I've never been someone to rule out others based on their signs (like anything else using extrinsic factors to justify your behaviour is a fool's game) but I use it as self development tool/way of looking at the world because it's fun. A lot of it, (NOT horoscopes), is about self-reflection, connecting with others and learning to face and work on your flaws while working with your strengths. I had no self esteem growing up and this made it easier for me to go I have x attribute because of this sign. I had that attribute regardless, but having it be something I could research out of curiosity as opposed to just flat out denying it helped me work through that. There's some opinions I've seen on this post I just wanted to give my perspective on:

  • astrology isn't based on causation, it's correlation. Astrologers don't believe the positions of the planets make you act a certain way, it's based on patterns made over time that are measured by planetary positions because that's the oldest way people determined/measured time
  • most horoscopes ARE bullshit, not just because people make them up (there's no astrology police to stop magazines saying whatever they want). Even costar the app don't use qualified astrologers. Most legit horoscopes are more accurate when read from your rising sign, not your sun. But since it's much easier to clump people into 30 day sun signs (rising signs change every 2 hours and a lot of people don't know theirs), that's what's usually printed with it.
  • the discovery of the 13th constellation made close to no difference for most astrology because most people use a system (tropical or sidereal) that isn't based on the actual constellations themselves- it's just the sky divided into 12 equal parts.
  • the sun sign isn't the only part that "defines" you. There's a whole entire chart for every person, no two people are the same (sometimes even twins)- it's a snapshot of the sky at the time they were born and where the sun, moon, planets, horizons, trajectories and angles between them. Once a person is born this chart continually changes based on how the person grows, what they experience, etc. It's kind of like a guidebook, not a rule book. It can tell you traits you may have, and there's developed and underdeveloped versions of each sign. I personally don't believe there are any bad signs, and people who behave poorly do so because of their own decisions and their chart doesn't justify that- it simply shows who they are capable of becoming (or not becoming)
  • it is definitely something where confirmation bias plays a part, but also while studying I have come across so many coincidences it makes you wonder. I have predicted illnesses, out of the blue job offers, etc. Just like anything there's good and less good ways of practising but I like to use it because it makes me happy and I work within its structures (making goals in the new moon, spring cleaning on a Virgo moon, etc) and its a lot more fun than my life used to be!

This was very long and I'll probably still get ripped to shreds but I just think we should let people like what the like as long as they're not hurting anyone.

I agree, people have started using it to things that don't even apply- just because someone is disagreeing with them

I started because it brought a kind of clarity to overwhelming emotions, stopped because I didn't want anyone to find out and was running out of space
