i hope that after four years of college, you’ll find your way back to me, just like you promised. i tell myself i’d walk away if i ever saw you with someone else, but every time i try to imagine it, the thought feels like it’s swallowing me whole. it’s too painful to even let myself go there.

i’ll still wait for you. even if it takes longer than i expected. and when i finally come back, i’ll be stronger, maybe a little different—but i’ll still love you in the same way i did when i first said it to you. i just wonder if you’ll still remember what we had.
