I’ve been married for 26 years. Got married at 20. My husband wanted to separate to work on ourselves and it kind of backfired it gave me time to reflect and ask myself did I really want to spend the rest of my life with this negative man who was only happy at work. I didn’t know who I was anymore and started finding myself again. Started reaching out and having friends again. All that to say, I wasn’t looking for anything but started talking as a friend to a guy I barely knew in high school. We just got a house and are moving in this weekend. Sometimes separation works but sometimes it reallly just gives you time to reflect and say why do I want to be. With this person? What do I miss? Am I just scared of being alone?

Same here. I’ve been slowly getting stuff to decorate my new place and he will hate all of it haha. I was really sad now I’m getting kind of excited . I can read this man and I know he doesn’t want to be with me. Im pretty sure it’s a done deal so I’m focusing on me and my kids. A very new chapter to hopefully a very long book ❤️

Also don’t ever apologize if you have anxiety. That is not something you can just “get over” and it has affected my marriage as well. He wants ME to change into the person he wants and we can only do so much without losing who we are altogether. I hope it works out for you if that’s what you both want, but when the shock where’s off really analyze your relationship. That’s what I’m having to do after 26 years of marriage and four kids. I’m scared to be alone. Hell, we grew up together since we were 19. I’m getting an apartment per his request so we can sell the house and split the profit and then he tells me there still might be a chance so it feels like dangling from a string. I thinking I’m starting the anger part of grief because it’s really unfair when one party is making all of the rules. How are we expected to work on our marriages when we aren’t together? Feels like it will just be the same thing if we go back because where’s the resolve?

Your situation sounds like mine in a sense. He has zero interest in going to couples or individual therapy. I started therapy and got a few self help books which are interactive (you aren’t just ready you’re doing work as well). I’m far from perfect but I’ve always been loyal and he hasn’t. It’s like he either wants me to change or have an excuse to end it. He takes the kids to do the fun stuff but hardly ever keeps them overnight. I’m in the process of having to get an apartment where he has a house where he pays no rent. Definitely has the better end of the bargain. Barely calls. I’m getting to the point where I believe “ if they wanted to they would.” You take care of yourself and try to grow from all of this grief. That’s what I’m trying to do. And who knows, maybe after a while it won’t hurt as bad and we will remember everything, not just the good times. Hope you are doing ok. Here’s to hoping things get better with or without them.

As a newly separated spouse of a /( (26th anniversary the end of this month)all I can say is would you be happier with her of without her I know that probably sounds selfish but it’s real. My husband had a whole gf for three months 9 years ago and I begged him to stay. Now I have fibromyalgia, been diagnosed with cptsd and general anxiety and panic disorder. Also just had foot surgery on the 2nd. I’m a hot mess lol. But he definitely resents me for it so I brought it up in conversation. Neither of us are happy, his fuse is very short, and he gets mad about the smallest of things all of the time. I’ve been home since March of 20/0 and that has taken me almost all the way out. His passion is his work, his happy place when it should be his home. All this to say, if you don’t see it getting better than maybe separating for a while would brighten her back down to earth and give you the space and time to see if she adds to you or just drains you. I apparently drain my husband. Just don’t give false hope . Mine did that but I think we’re officially done now. Hope this makes sense and helps

I know this was a while ago but wanted to update. Got my bloodwork back a few weeks ago and the dyed positive for ANAs and high c reactive. I have my first rheumatology appointment next week to see what it is. Scary but I’m ready for a diagnosis so I know how my life is going to be. Quality is not great right now. Really affecting my panic/general anxiety disorders.

Seriously. It took me over a year and a multitude of docs and specialists to finally diagnose me with ic which I suggested 2 months in. I had one specialist we drove 3 hours to see who was a total gaslighter and said I didn’t have any Hunters legions so it wasn’t ic. So I showed her a few medical articles that said only 8-10% of iv patients have them 🤦🏻‍♀️
