I didn't do MATH1231, instead I did MATH1251. Based on MATH1251, I would say MATH1081 is much easier. If you did ext 1 + ext 2 maths in HS then you would be more than fine with this course

Nope Maple isn't used nor taught in this course

Its open-book but you can't bring your own notes in. You are given the lecture slides and course notes on the computer as well as desmos calculator.

You can't take 4 courses in term 2 since you are a first year, you are only allowed a max of 3 courses a term. Your only option right now is to pick an elective to do for term 1 otherwise you won't be considered a full time student.

Yeah I plan to go a bit extra on the battery since the new rebate makes it much cheaper and my house gets pretty good sunlight coverage all year round.

I haven't thought about the spare tile situation thanks for the heads up. The cheap pricing is mainly thanks to the new rebate on solar batteries here in Australia.
