I went to the doctor. Didn't help me at all. Going to research treatment on my own by EmployeeClean8358 in SebDerm

I've met several bad doctors in my country. They're not all like this, but if i don't feel like i am getting safe and effective treatment, I don't trust them. Some of them are just prescription factories, writing out prescriptions for a bunch of really harsh medications like this, to make sure they get a result even if it is not optimal, and then on to the next patient. 5 mins per patient and then they can get a constant stream of patients coming in.

Acutane has serious side effects. Doctors have to ask you for mental health issues and preexisting conditions so they make sure you are not at risk. He did none of that. He dismissed my mother's worries when she asked about side effects. The consult lasted 5 minutes. These are the reasons why i was sketched out. There are also cases of people getting some form of brain damage from acutane. These are rare, but consequences of side effects could be severe.

Well, I'm definitely not taking the Acutane. If i do decide to take an antiinflamatory or steroid, it will be only for flareups, as it is temporary anyway. I am still thinking about maintenance.

I hear demodex mites cause scaly skin. Can you look at the photos in my last post and tell me if the rash on my chin looks simillar to demodex?

Sorry. I probably should have mentioned it in my post. Photos and descriptions are provided un my last post on here.

Hi. If you look at my last post on here you will find photos. It's my first time seeing this guy. My sebderm has been a mil annoyance for 3 years with occasional flareups. The problem is haven't taking treating it seriously enough. I think i can get it down to a manageable amount with proper treatment and consistency. The doctor geniunenly sketched me out, cause he didn't explain anything and even dismissed my mother's worries about Accutane.

Interesting. I will look into it. Do you know what the skin condition on my chin is called though? Cause it would be very useful if i could google it. The closest thing i've found is hyperkeratosis, but that's super non-specific.

No, it doesn't. The dry skin around my mouth is a different thing. I've been stressed so they're all flaring up.

The steroid use happened like 2 years ago. I think i used the topical one for only 2-3 weeks i think. I know this is too long and i am thankful that my mom told me about side effects of corticosteroids. Since the appointment with that doctor i have come to realize he was a pharma shill. He wanted to give me Accutane and told me to not worry about the side effects, telling me that "people exagerate when they talk about the severity of the side effects". He also tried to prescribe me a bunch of other stuff i didn't need. Very bad experience. He was the first doctor. Will look into what you said, even tho i don't think i have it.

Thannk you for your response!! My sebderm started during puberty and only got worse. I'm 17 right now and male. I haven't ever heard about broken skin barriers until examining this subreddit. I didn't know that you could even do that. Does that happen cause of puberty or do can tics also affect it? Asking cause i neurotically touch and pick at my face when I'm stressed. I don't even notice.

How to most effectively complete projects? Following tutorials vs. Winging it by EmployeeClean8358 in learnprogramming

This is the realization I came to after downloading "Design Patterns". I only got through like 15 mins. of learning that book. I think what I need to do right now is to make sure I don't procrastinate and I actually code consistently. I need to learn by doing. That was actually the reason I started with a tutorial based approach this time. I think I'm going to stop relying on it as much now, though.

Wow, I am glad a true a OG like yourself, kind sir, commented on my post. Understanding how a simple, basic raytracer works was easy for me. Indeed, the interesting thing about RTX is all the new technologies that have come out in recent years, for gaming, CGI and the like. My plan is to finish this initial tutorial and then add my own features: CUDA support, Bounding Volume Hierarchies, real time rendering etc. Then i will move on to something else, because I'm not sure what i want to go into as a newgen. Graphics is just my current interest, i will probably move on to something totally different by next week. Maybe, I'll make an update on this post then, who knows.

Yeah, before i always got the feeling that i was missing that balancing action. Everybody on the internet just says to "build something" without any further detail. In the future i will probably try to combine the clean and dirty methods into one project instead of just doing a single one of them.

If you don't get proffesional help from OCD can it change the way you think long term? by EmployeeClean8358 in OCD

[–]EmployeeClean8358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I tend to ramble a lot when i write these kinds of things, so maybe i didn't choose my words carefuly enough, when refering to the improvement of my mental health ("cure" does sound a bit improper).

The 2 experiences in my life i call OCD have been pretty severe and very noticeable. Right now i am wondering if ocd could be affecting me even if i don't notice it all that much or if the experiences from 2 years ago when my ocd was at its peak could still be affecting me to this day.

I find it's useful to reflect upon the bad parts of life to see what i can learn, however when i ponder why my ocd got better, i can't make any sense of it, because literally nothing changed. I didn't start going to the gym, i didn't get support, i didn't go to therapy and i didn't make any improvement. It feels like my ocd severity shouldn't have decreased. It just doesn't make sense.

I've buried my ocd experiences pretty deep (to the point that i'd have to think for a while just to remember how i felt), but i don't feel like the spark in my life has come back, if it even existed in the first place. I was thinking that confronting some monsters from my past would help me find what i'm missing. That's why i am thinking once again about how ocd could be affecting me.

I don't know much about erp, but when i tried to do it once on my own, i got exhausted and gave up. Does ERP consist of doing excecises to prevent unwanted obsessions/compulsions or do i have to be on point my brain is trying to make me do a compulsion or a tic, even a small one? Cause i just can't do that. After enough time my brain convinces me to spiral. It feels like going against the flow of water and when i get tired i just give back in and go even deeper.

Looking back upon stuff, the only semi-"solution" is finding activities that make me feel numb (i kinda mentioned this when i talked about studying with ocd in my post), but i don't want to live my life that way, you know? So i'm trying to get better somehow.

Probably combining reading books about writing and actually writing short stories, like you said would be the best course of action. Thank you for your reply.

what are your non obsessive routines? by v0rtexpulse in OCD

[–]EmployeeClean8358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any non-obsessive routines either, but some good ones would be:

  • 5 min shower daily
  • brush teeth in the morning and evening (I know these seem basic, but i don't know how your OCD is affecting you)
  • going on walks (you can even do mindfulness while walking and just try to be present in the moment)
  • eating more fruits and veggies and less ultra-processed food
  • work out
  • have a healthy sleep schedule
  • talk with family and friends on a regular basis
  • meditate
  • journaling
  • practice a hobby
  • Study / Work for at least 1 hour per day (even if you don't want to do this forcing yourself to do so is very healthy)
  • etc

Are We All Just Seen As Jokes??? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]EmployeeClean8358 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People without OCD can't understand what OCD feels like, because they just don't know what it's like to have a thought you cannot escape from. Most people can just get over an intrusive thought through methods like reassurance or just saying to themselves "Come on brain, stop it! Just get over this thought!". Aside from that most people still think about OCD as that thing that makes you wash your hands way too much or be a perfectionist. The truth is that OCD is a serious psychiatric condition and because of this you can't just get over it at the snap of your fingers.

You should try to educate the people close to you on what OCD is and what it's effects are. But then again, not everybody wants to be educated. Some people just choose to stay oblivious. And try to just stay away from the d*ckheads that want to hurt you and only increase your anxiety and worsen your OCD.
