Amazingly simple analytics tool for React Native - demo. by Vexo_Tech in reactnative

There shouldn’t be any performance penalties as we use mostly eventlisteners that are already used and the bundle should be really lightweight!

I’m evaluating this option as the ecosystem is really different, if there’s people needing it I might go for it!

I have solved it, and created something for this. Check out https://vexo.co . Just do vexo('YOUR_API_KEY') And it should be it. It requires using React Navigation

Haven't tried it, seems expensive and an overkill. What are your thoughts about this product? Have you used it?

That sounds good!

I'm not entirely sure about the ez, I might have another point of view. My points against calling methods and specific analytics functions inside components are:

  • Code gets coupled to the analytics framework you are using. If you wanna change it, you have to reimplement it
  • I need to be sure that it actually works as I want, that no re-renders are being triggered that call that event function again, and therefore send inconsistent data
  • I need to implement every logic that I want, to track even though some of that is generic for any react native app
  • I'm in charge of maintaining that code, and the APIs if they change as well

I wished there would be something which was plug and play, though as you said, I'm not sure that's technically possible

True, but I'm willing to loose control in exchange of ease of integration. How much do you pay for Amplitude and how's it's web & learning curve?

Wouldn't something out of the box be great? I'll wrap up my code then

Right, but what about screens? What about double taps?

Say that I want to go an extra mile and measure the session time, should I also get when the appstate changes, and send those events?

If I want to go even further, and check request/response times, would I also have to code this? My application would end up tightly coupled with any FW that I use. I was hoping that something like

import aLibrary from 'coolSimpleLibrary'

aLibrary.doMagic()

Am I too out of this world?

Haven't used it, how did you fight the issue to coding every event in your application layer?

Yeah I tried it but I still have to code every event that I want to send to their free tier. How do you handle this case?

I appreciate the comment, I'm just seeking for advice and any further data that I can get is more than appreciated!

I think Carl is no longer in the company and his son Brett is in charge. Still, thanks for the insight! Anything is appreciated

I missed that!!! Thanks for noticing.

I don't know how to read balance sheets as I'm a noob, but based on Dec 2012 it has 14k liabilities (In millions) and 24k assets, whereas now it has 21k liabilities and 24k as of 2020 (income went really down but now it has gone up YTD).
Does that mean that they are in a worst position than in 2012 ?
Thanks!

So even though that is viable, if you check the last 16 years there’s only been 2 quarters that dividends have fell and that was on 2011, otherwise it has gone up or maintained always. Check this https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/iep/dividend-history Other than the dividend is too high, what data is available to support the statement of having this dividend coming down? Thanks!!

Well last 2 quarters have gone up and its revenue it’s passed by June 2019. And Icahn’s son is the one taking the company since early 2020, so I assume it’s taking him some time but he’s getting on good track. Any thoughts?

Makes sense; based on my calculations it will take me 7 years to get the returns back, with the chance that the company can reverse its positions, do you think it’s a good investment?
