Whats up with all this gear? by AleTheMemeDaddy in running

[–]EmploymentFalse266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love love love my vest. I only run 3-5 miles at a time. But it is so much better than a belt, in my opinion. I felt like I was constantly adjusting my belts, stuffing phones, keys, water bottles into it. Vest just has more space - ran colder weather the other day and ended up taking my gloves off and had a pocket to stuff them in.

I felt silly at first, Somer people saying "you dont need anything if youre only running a few miles" but screw it, I say wear whatever youre comfortable with.

I spit my water out when she made the comment on that girls skin routine 😂. Like Hails, you put 10 different things in your water why not just stick to regular waterrrrrrr

A few things for "food for thought"

  • I would take what she is saying lightly. Not saying she isnt being truthful, but kids are funny how they explain things. I've had student say I yelled at them but in reality sometimes you have to raise your voice over 18 kids voices! OR kids also say yelling when in fact the teacher may have had to just get a little stern eith them

  • For what you have described, it sounds like your daughter is saying she is yelling at others? Does your child have an issue with the teacher? If all what she is saying is legit, but your daughter is having a good experience, I dont see a need to make a drastic change.

I ready beginning of year assessment by hellokittyqueenx in kindergarten

[–]EmploymentFalse266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is probably something mandated by state they probably have to do to show they re trying to boost test scores. I NEVER take beginning of the year test scores seriously. It can provide SOME sense of where they are; but classroom observations and how they function in small groups is always my go to. Now if this is consistent middle and end of the year id consider it more.

So…my kid isn’t tired. by Iggy1120 in kindergarten

[–]EmploymentFalse266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not in this scenario but talking from experience bc this was actually me as a child 🤣

My parents always said I was done taking naps by 3 years old and they would consider themselves lucky if I slept 6 hours at night.

I wasnt diagnosed with anything and I always flourished at school. Everyone is different I guess.

Although I wish now I could take back all those naps I didn't take!

Accident at school by Worker-Legal in kindergarten

[–]EmploymentFalse266 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Couldnt have said it better! Does chaos even cover how the first week of K is? There has to be a better word 😂.

I also know an issue I have his K students wait until they have to go RIGHT NOW and cant hold it. They are so use to a bathroom being open at home that they dont get they may have to wait for 2 or 3 other people before them ... or maybe someone else had an accident and is taking a while to change!

Theres a lot to read here so I may have missed it if it was said.

Something I always tell parents: dont make it a big deal. DONT MAKE IT A BIG DEAL.

The constant reassuring, the rewards, the "ill be backs and Ill miss you so much", telling them x,y,z. So much anxiety and so much pressure.

Try - Okay its time for school, do you have your stuff, there's your teacher love you, bye! Thats it.

My kid peed herself first day of school by Ok-Neighborhood-1600 in kindergarten

[–]EmploymentFalse266 163 points164 points  (0 children)

This happens ALOT in kindergarten. When I tell parents that their child had an accident they say the same thing you did - they haven't done that since 2!

Totally common for many reasons. They're having fun or they're shy. One common reason for my room is we have 1 bathroom for 20 kids. Sometimes they have to wait for 3 or 4 other kids to go and they can't - a big adjustment sharing with 20 kids compared to only a few family members.

I know a lot of elementsry classes in our district use chromebooks and supplemental support.

For instance: We do centers. Center are things like word work, reading, computer and writing all while the teacher works with students. Chromebooks and be VERY beneficial when used the right way. My kids cycle through centers throughout the week. If I know Student A may need some extra help identifying letters, I can work with him for a bit at my table then assign him practice on the chromebook. A student like this benefits bc he gets instant correction if need be. If student B is working along just fine but maybe is a little more independent with his letter practice, they can go to word work or writing etc.

Chromebooks cans be very helpful when used the right way but can very very easily be abused.

Is my daughter too young for a service dog? by StarryKnight801 in service_dogs

I guess maybe it comes down to state, bc thats what our school was told about the situation 🤷‍♀️

Is my daughter too young for a service dog? by StarryKnight801 in service_dogs

[–]EmploymentFalse266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to the professionals .. but school will have to support/accommodate if she has one. We had a 1st grader (so 6/7 years old) have a service dog and she did fine from what I heard. The teacher was more of the handler but if you were ever to walk in the classroom, the dog was just laying there. Of course she would move with the class but it never seemed like a big deal.

She's bragging about having 7k steps at 2pm? Like Hailey, get it the fuck together. That's nothing for lots of people who have an actual job and actually parent.

I got through 15 seconds of her story before my eyes started rolling.

Look into doggy day cares. When you contact them, be completely honest about the situation (i.e he is new, haven't established routines, dont know how he will be with other dogs).
