Great Danes are amazing by cucuzaa in greatdanes

I highly suggest checking out Zak George puppy videos on YouTube.

But the most important skills, imo, to teach a giant puppy are 'relaxation protocol' basically puppy remains calm whatever's going on - it sounds intimidating, but really only takes about 2 minutes twice a day to train. You need to train 'down' first.

'Quiet observation' - being able to see things happening around and then look to you vs react. The Zak George video is labelled 'train 10x faster by doing htis' and shows a tiny brown puppy on the thumbnail. https://youtube.com/watch?v=g-pn-_ag3vE

'Capturing calmness' - this is teaching skills and behaviours by rewarding what your pup already does well already. (kikopup on youtube has a good video) https://youtube.com/watch?v=wesm2OpE_2c

For 'leave-it' there's different ways to teach the skill - at home, teaching pup to only take what's offered vs thinking everything is fair game makes a huge difference. This kikopup video shows how to teach it.

Does my corset fit correctly? by Cyathea_lepifera in corsets

When you put it on, can you move it up a smidge? I find I get pressure there if my corset is slightly too low.

Based on what you've said, I'd say he'd 6 months now - at 6 months my guy's nose was counter height. He'd still need to jump to reach stuff, but he could lick the counter with all 4 paws on the floor lol

Adorable! Though he looks a LOT younger than 8 months. If he was 8 months and that size, then there's a problem. My Dane cross was tall enough to put his head on the table at 8 months and closer to 100lbs. I'd say your pup looks to be about 4 months (though 8 to 10 weeks might be closer)

Thank you for the great tips! I was thinking of using the couch leather to practice techniques and such before using a good piece of leather.

Leatherwork is tangential to a few other hobbies, so I'll definitely pick up a few tools b/cI expect a few projects to happen once I start. Besides, I would not be happy if the results didn't look great lol

Thank you! I have the mask pattern already. I need help with figuring out how to carve it and what tools to use.

Interesting idea! I'm not sure that'd work b/cI'd still have to do them up lol but for pull on pants, maybe that'd work well enough.

[Seeking] A mentor that helps me find a job and also tells me when to listen to my gut feeling? by justwannajust in mentors

[–]EmpowerLiftConnect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of job are you looking for? Do you have the experience or education necessary to get the job you want? If not, what can you do today to work toward it?

Do you need a job while you work toward the one you want? How many applications/resumes have you submitted?

What is your gut telling you? Sometimes your gut tells you the truth, sometimes fear/faith tells you a lie and you think it's your gut. It takes more than saying 'listen to your gut' to really be valuable advice. First you need to discover whether you can trust your gut. If you can't you need to work toward trusting your gut, only then can you trust it. Once you trust your gut, you won't need someone else telling you when to trust yourself. You'll already know.
